Fullsize Pre-runner Thread!

My pre-runner-turned rock-crawler may be turning back to a pre-runner if I keep reading this thread!!!!!!! I turned to rock crawling partly cause it's "cheaper" but after buying a D60, Longfield CVs, crossover & high steer, 5.13s and a lockright I coulda' been alot closer to buying triple bypass shocks!! Although I still would have been breaking D44s and 10 bolts. To me the cool build will be the PRE-CRAWLER and I think it's totally doable in a way that it would work well for both :D:D

Absolutely a pre-crawler is possible... check out ktmoutfront's k5...

On another note here is more go fast media :D

Alan Pflueger in the dirt...

Oh and I ran across this pic in an album w/ Thanksgiving '07 stuff so aparently he's still out and about...

I have seen it (and talked with THE MAN) in person @ BB07! His rig is more proof that what juanblzer and I have been talking about (for a long time) will work

Yep, I hope we start seeing more builds going in this direction...

Not that I have anything against the [350/383/454]/SM465/[205 or Doubler]/14ff/D60/locked w/ a shackle flip and 52's up front but its starting to feel like the lifted 2500hd and stupid duty craze...kinda cookie-cutterish to me.

I've been chatting w/ some guys on AIM and I think we have a pretty good seutp for my k10, so expect to see the building begin once I get back to Cali! haha I'm so excited...

I agree with that - although you nearly descibed my truck! My first offroad love, so to speak, was pre-runners and offroad racing and is still in my mind the pinnacle of truck technology. I want to build miy truck to do every thing offroad well' but focus on going fast and crawling IMO the best two forms of offroading

haha that was kind of the point, that description covers most FSC's built to crawl...:D

haha ok I guess I should clarify... back in the Fresno/Clovis area we have TONS of 2500hd's w/ the duramax/allison and a 10"+ (most are 14") FTS w/ 20" Rockstar/Diesel/etc. rims and 40" Toyo's...

Your 6.0 SAS'd beast doesn't count :)

Can I be a pic whore for a minute? I know its FAR from an actual pre runner but thats the direction Im headed with it. At least for looks, I dont know how my 4wd will hold up to whoops and high speed bumps lol.

Just get out your check book and send it and your truck my way. I could fix the whoops and high speed bumps problem.

haha I bet you would.... I figure the fix for most of our truck problems is a blank check ;)

Not for my trucks. I do them on the cheap by doing all of my own work and calling in favors for parts. I have always wanted to build something with a blank check, but nobody will give me one.

I think I might try it on the cheap with an 88 2wd 3/4 ton suburban. I'll do some wider a-arms out of dom tubing and on the rear I'll just put traction bars.

I'd probably need stiffer fronts with the longer a-arms

I'll just be bonzing through a field thats about 1/4 mile long.

We talked about that one a couple pages earlier. Still for sale eh?

I would not want to air that truck out or hit a big G-out at any speed. That truck is more of a daily driver to use on graded roads. $8000?????? Wow.
