Fun Driver

Smurf is currently in my hands. Check its past record here: https://ck5.com/forums/builds/74-k5-build-smurf.112/
Yep. Do what ya gotta do to make that cable full extension at wot.

It almost seems like you need a different bracket to attach it to. maybe a junkyard or a new one ?
The cable I had in there adjusts fine, I wonder if the cable he got was the wrong length or the wrong application

Well it look like you have an adapter to mount the throttle body on an engine that was originally carbureted. I wonder if that has the positioning off a little bit. :dunno:

But if you can get full throttle with the pedal, then it seems to me that you could use those cable clamps to shorten the cable.

I got Dorman cable stop (# 03336), cut the original termination from the cable and put the adjustable one in. I'm only afraid that some pieces of that wire might have gotten pinched and cut inside it.

Took car for test drive, it shifts:
1-2 at about 20mph ; the weird thing is I have to let gas off a little bit and push it again to force the switch
2-3 at about 40mph
3-4 at about 65mph

and engine RPM is at 2500 at 75mph.

That's how the 1-2 shift was with me when I had it tight.
Maybe you can give it a hair more slack

I did give it 1 click more slack. Now it's shifting 1-2 at around 17-20mph which seems correct. However, if I'm driving very slowly with 10% throttle around residential areas - it would still shift 1-2 earlier, at about 12mph maybe. Is that normal?
Also, does the TV cable stretch over time?

Yeah that's how it should be.
You drive it gently it should shift earlier. You drive it hard it shifts higher

You should match the color of coolant that is in it now.

Coolant shouldn't be black... either green (most likely) or red...got a picture?

If it is black it doesn't matter what you put in it.

I would drain it. Undo the upper radiator hose pull the thermostat but put the thermostat neck back on and flush the whole system with a garden hose. Through the radiator cap opening.

Well if it is orange do the same thing, that stuff sucks

any auto parts store green mix all will work. Orange is just long life Dex which sucks

I actually prefer the long life. Doesn't leave the white residue on the inside of the radiator which interferes with the heat transfer
