Crank pulley is off (that was fun) timing cover is off and I'm taking that along with the oil pan and valley cover over for powder coating this afternoon
When they inevitably powder coat a gasket surface you didn't want coated, go to Lowes or home depot and get a quart of this stuff, apply and let it sit for 5-15 minutes and then wipe the coating off, might have to do it twice. Way better than scraping or sanding that stuff off. Just be careful, even one drop will immediately turn the coating dull. I carefully apply it with a foam brush and then throw it away.

There is a rectangle ring that bolts down to the head. The LS valve covers were center bolt pattern. The adapter uses the factory LS valve cover gasket. Then the adapter has threaded studs and you put the SBC valve covers down with SBC valve cover gaskets. The adapters have a 2nd set of holes in case you wanted to use early SBC valve covers that have the staggered bolt pattern.So how do those SBC valve cover adapters work?

One of the things I like about the 66 is the Apline Green engine color. I've always thought it was neat how they used to paint the engines a different color depending on displacement.

I have been following this build from the beginning and I have to say my second favourite truck is the 1955-57, but my favorite is the 1958-59 with dual headlights.I've been slacking on the updates.
Trans crossmember is in and the motor trans are bolted down in the chassis.
Got the front sheet metal on and started trying to get some good gaps. Had to space the front of the cab up 1/2" but things are looking pretty good for now.
Also put on 2 of the new tires/ wheels just to see how things looked. Front fender clearance is very tight. I might be ok though.
Buttoned up a few things under the hood. Power steering is all done. 87 c10 hoses hook right up to the 2005 steering pump.
Bolted down the intake and fuel rails. And then moved on to the brake pedal, booster, master cylinder, and proportioning valve.
Exhaust manifolds are on order and I ordered the gas tank today
