Glorified Grocery Getter Build- WARN Premiums and Dual Battery Mock Up and Boxes

Oh man don't bump me, I'm embarrassed I've been slacking. I've got all these cool projects waiting for me and haven't gotten to any of them. Sometimes life just gets too busy. I hope I can spend some quality time with the burb soon.

well i just got a 90 burb lastnight and it needs all the work you have done done to it. i dont kow how to subscribe so i have to bump...

Yep, looks great!! I have been through this thread twice, got fired up and went out and bought a 1983 suburban diesel 4x4. Ant then I bought it a 1998 cummins and nv5600 trans. Big project; bigger rewards

That sounds awesome, Josh. You'll have to have a thread, so you can return the favor and get me fired up. You to greywolf. I've got to start reading some other threads and getting inspired again.

I enjoyed reading this thread. It is nice to see work from someone so maticulous! Keep up the good work.

Love reading and seeing this thread. Recently picked up a 85' Subby and plan on restoring parts and giving the 4x4 treatments to others :-)

Just an update. I'm being forced to tie up all these unfinished projects since triple digit temperatures are right around the corner for us here in the valley of the sun. In the past couple weeks I've had a few things buttoned up.

BWP Rear Brake Line installed
Remote Tranny Filter Installed
Tilt column tightened up
Steering Brace Installed
Swaybar Discos Installed
Replaced both front window motors

I can't claim the credit for the above though as our friend/mechanic owed us some traded labor so he's been doing the work. He's done a kickbutt job as usual and I'll throw up some pics in the next few days.

I'll be doing the dual battery stuff myself though, coming up shortly. I finally found a dual battery tray though so that's good news. It's the universal dual from Wrangler NW. I already did a test fit with both batteries and the fiberglass electrical box and it's perfect. Won't be able to stand or sit on the inner fender anymore while I work on it, but I guess that is the price of progress. :dunno: :D

glad to hear the old girl is coming along well! i look forward to seeing your progress in the future. i remember you helped me plan mine a while ago and the build was a complete success. thanks again and good luck with the sub

this build is awesome. very similar to what i want for mine. My build may be have a little more offroad touches (1 tons, lockers, and body armor.) but its very similar to what i have planned.

I have planned on second skin audio products throughout. how would you rate their product so far? It seems like you have only done the roof. I am assuming this is for the heat in arizona, correct? Couldn't you also paint a good portion of the roof white? just a thought, as we dont have those problems in the south.

I also have a question about your battery setup. . .my burb (6.2 Diesel) came with 2 batteries standard (according to the PO). they are just wired in with no isolater or switch. (because of the 300 amp plus draw for glow plugs, and then the high compression starting)

why not save alot of money and go that way? i understand if its used for camping alot and you want to be able to run the radio alot. just curious.

what is your plan for the interior floor? I am trying to decide between herculiner and sound deadening and then carpet.

have a good one

Chris
