go fast trail / desert springs

I'm not getting the full 14in, I just ran that long of a shock so the springs max out before the shock does. So I'm not using my shock as a limiting strap. I run BDS soft rides with no overloads and a spring removed from all the packs flexes pretty good for 8in front springs, and 4in rear springs with a 4in shackle flip. I have yet to do the rear though, but my rear end the shocks are my limit straps until I can get the new mounts and shocks ordered. But to answer your question no, I probably can't use all that travel, I just needed to limit my up travel to 5ish so I keep my Boggers out of everything. But it does use quite of bit of the shocks.

ok yeah i was curious because im trying to get the most out of my springs right now but my front driveshaft angles are my big limiting factor right now.

Alright, I went through that problem. If you take out the driveshaft and look at it, you will notice the CV and Yoke ends where the u-joint cups are are almost square in shape. And the CV has various "stops" for lack of a better word built in. I rounded the cup mounting area down, and ground all the stops off and mine is fine now. When I put it on a lift, with the springs all the way extended I can turn the D/S just fine with no binding. Now Im sure somewhere grinding these stops is bad, but I ran mine for 7 years with no problems. It did finally explode but it was from lack of maintenance and I let it sit in a pond for 6 weeks until I could extract it. Then forgot/didnt have time to grease it and kapow. Now my t-case crossmember is mounted flush with the frame, as my rear D/S is so long its angle was fine. I also set my BB down as far as I could in the frame, low enough I cant take the oil pan out without either cutting the engine crossmember out or lifting the motor, and that did help my D/S angle in the front some.
