How soft are Tuff Country easy rides? Will I hate my life if I use them as a go fast desert suspension setup? I know the best solution is some custom springs but would a stock length TC setup work out?

How much of a lift over stock should I run for a desert runner type deal? I was thinking 3" because it would allow me to get some up travel before the spring would go flat and would not make the truck too tall.

Would i be better off handling and ride wise to keep the factory shackle set up in the rear or run a shackle flip kit?

My stock springs are trashed I really need to replace them but with being in college I am on a budget for the time being. Maybe some years down the road after I graduate and move I will link and coil it. Just looking for a good solution for now.

Good bumps.... Really good bumps, too. :D

Or, you could be like me, and run 4" Skyjacker springs and Poly bumps....
But spitting out yer teeth gets old after a while. :haha:

:haha: i already split my stock bumps into 3 pieces from driving around town. If i dont get something softer the wife will never ride with me again. Poor dog would probably get a concussion too haha

Air bumps and nice shocks will go farther than the springs themselves. I plan on 4" ord alcans up front, shackle flip in the rear (eventually put stock lift alcan springs with my shackle flip for better ride in the rear) bilstein 7100s or fox 2.0s up front with 5150s out back. Then air bumps. So say $1000 in springs. $800 in shocks, and prolly another $800-$1000 in air bumps. With hardware prolly $3000 into the suspension. To me thats the cheapest go fast dune rig you can do. Add widish 33" tires, 4.10 gears with 14sf rear and some type of lockers and a healthy drivetrain, and you have a rig that will tackle most any sand action. So thats what ima do. :D

Check out sponsoredbydad's rig. Pretty close to the setup im lookin at without air bumps. But hes got a wicked nasty motor. :woot:

Having never been in another blazer before. How does the shackle flip affect body roll and all that?

Dont have mine in yet. Rode in folkenheaths rig, no body roll feeling. I beleive zims got a flip on his and it felt very solid.

It seems like every time I read about a go-fast desert truck build the name Deaver Spring comes up....

No idea on pricing, but "college budget" and "desert truck" seem to be at odds with each other! :D

True dat Greg! Good thing im done after this semester. Then i need i hope to sell the van and the bronco 2 and save up some cash and I should have my blazer darn close to where iwant it :thumb:

So now that the shocks / springs are worked out. How does one avoid rollovers while turning and driving fast in our trucks?

That part has always confused me

In the dirt, pitch it sideways and stay on the gas. As long as the wheels are spinning, the truck should slide.

Ask anybody on here who has seen mine run, it lays over hard. Never have come close to rolling it.

Really should not be much of a problem, if you still run an anti sway bar, it would be better.

Is a rear sway needed?

Sweet basically just pull a scandinavian flick :D

If doing custom leaf springs for the front should i over estimate the weight some (maybe a couple hundred pounds) if i think i might do a custom bumpers and roll bar at some point?
