"Goober's Garage" K20 Build

got my washers welded on the front spring hanger as the holes were wallowed out a tad. c - channel is welded in. diy 4x stuff is painted and ready to go on once the frame is done. frame is flipped and ready to be cleaned up. i also found my conversion lugnuts and chevy hub caps to run the new style hub caps, so it looks like i got hub caps now!

ebay a year or so ago. i had the newer style wheels and caps on my other truck so i had them already. dont remember what i paid buy i dont think it was that bad of a price

well start the new job thursday so i dont know how much time ill have in the up coming weeks to work on this but i know for sure ill be saving every penny i can to finish this thing asap :waytogo:

new job is going great, like the people mood in the shop. a buddy called me friday and ask'd me if i wanted me frame sand blasted this weekend. he said he could get it into his work for some free sand blasting, of course i said yes! so i got the frame blasted in a commercial blasting room for free and got it into primer today. turned out awesome.

Man i love sandblasted steel. Its so perdy! Lookin great man!

havent got any pics but the rear end/shackle flip is done and under the frame and is all painted nice and perdy. finally getting used to the routine with work. my family thinks im nuts cause i wrench all day at the dealership then come home and spend all my money i made from wrenching on wrenching in the garage haha. gotta work hard to play hard.

got to go thru the front end on my cousins 03 burb this week and work on a local guys late 70's lifted half ton. have to fix a couple leaks and add a few leaves to the rear to level it out and rebuild the Holly for him. a lot of TLC stuff. then ill have some more play money to go thru the front axle and start plumbing this thing.

we lifted a buddys 90' cummins a while ago and relized his old front springs ( that we made last year, he just wanted more lift) would work perfect on the front of my truck. they look to maybe be a tad longer which will allow me to use a longer shackle and will work out perfect i think. basically i just got to get other peoples chit done so i can make time for mine!

the 19th was my b day and a guy at my dads work makes wallets on the side. so my dad had him make me up one as a gift to me....:woot:

I'd look for a Dana 60 if you're going to spend that kind of money.

everyone around here has gold prices on a 60... of course id love to have one but it just aint happening. Just going to slowly rebuild this 44, it will be fine for what i want to do. the p side needs ball joints and the d side needs a u joint, so its one of those things were its torn down so far i might as well put ball joints and u joints in both sides. needs one tie rod end for sure and the seals are cheap, but i still have to buy rotors/pads and calipers. with my discount i think i can do it for right around 300 bucks.. o well it is what it is

thats not bad. And I wouldn't want a 60 for when you bring it to the dunes, unless you have got lots of motor, its just more weight to sink you in the sand. :waytogo:

(and I know your coming to the dunes with me...)

and if i was to buy a 60 i'd have to have all the cash up front, to where rebuilding this i can buy things separately as i get the money, works out better for me. and yes adam we will be dune'in this year!
