Good deal?

So my boss bought a Porsche SUV and is selling his 96 f250 with the 7.3 5 spd that he bought new. yeah, i know... Never owned a furd before... :haha:

I can get it for 2200.. he wanted 3000, 2500 to me, talked him to 22....

Has 140 g's, babied its whole life . New clutch, glow plugs... Has a leaky fuel tank or line. but is dual tank... and has had some rotted brakelines recently.. so it's not immaculate underneath.. but definitely solid and serviceable..... only exposed rust is a bit over a back well.. no big.... mint non-smoker red interior, minus a cracked windshield... typical peely clear deal..... could use front tires.. rig definitely wears the insides of the fronts.. did that to the last set too.. weird frontend on this thing?

I figure it might make a good backup rig... i know that drivetrain is pretty highly touted... i've driven it a few times and liked it.. I'd definitely ditch the cap..... good rig? i gotta figure the drivetrain is worth that...

watchu think? :ears:
Pretty nice 4x4 for a good price...my neighbor has a 97 7.3L. Apparently the 7.3 is the one all the Ford guys like the best

A neighbor had an older Ford diesel pickup with the 6.9 engine ,he had the second noisiest diesel on the block,it even made my 6.2 sound quiet in comparison..he was driving it up until a year ago,I think he sold it..he said the engine was going to last forever, but the rest of the truck was getting pretty whipped,he had a utility body on it and towed a big boat with it often,it was his work truck for a refrigeration business..

The 20 something year old inconsiderate douche across from me somehow ended up with a Dodge with a 12 valve Cummins,5 speed--I have to listen to him fire it up at all hours of the day & night ,and get driven off ,short shifting it so it lugs in every gear..sounds like a dying moose..in & out every 10 minutes some days & nights..:screwy:

The 6.0 is a pretty good engine. I was told by a ford master tech the root problem is they kept using the coolant from the 7.3l which was not intended to be run through an egr cooler. It overheats the coolant and clogs the oil cooler. Then theres something else that happens in this long convoluted ford proprietary process which I forgot that causes bad head gaskets. The end.

6.0 Sounds wicked tuned! Bulletproofed is expensive. And they are the most stolen Diesel.

Honestly I like the 6.9. Drove a oneton dulley with a 5th wheel camper trailer to California way back when I was 21 it was Crew cab long box two wheel drive with a standard. I’d drive one today!

My neighbor spent 6.8k having his 6.0 sd350 Bulletproofed, and it has been stolen once, recovered.
So 1 turbo, 2 fuel injection control modules, 3 coolant recovery bottles, all air side hoses.
Just under 300k miles 2004 year model.
I don't think I would ever own one.
