Got any cool tools lately?

That sucks for him. But he knows the tools will get used.
it sure does, he walks w a leg brace and a cane, and one arm is kinda just “hangin there” as he says. He had a couple JD lawn and garden tractors, one a 68 110 that was better than new, that he kept in tip top shape, that he sold this summer to a good friend. Sad to see the degradation, Im trying to spend more time w him when we can get together. He’s going on full disability in January @ 58. Certainly not headed into retirement financially or physically like he wanted to be. He helped me a lot with the Maiden build as he was living w me at the time. I’ll always be thankful for his help.

For Christmas, my son (and wife) got me a new Dewalt cordless sawzall after I told him I used to have one until it broke in half ( I went and bought a Milwaukee corded one after that)

Got my dad a new cordless drill, made sure to get one that uses the same batteries I do.
His old one was lower voltage, and even getting new brand name batteries for it they still wouldn't last.

Update on the DeWalt mag drill.

I have used it for thin material with success. Been happy with it. Needed to go through both sides of 2x3x3/16 rectangle tubing. Marked one side. Set it up and put a used 2.5 inch hole saw in it. 20 seconds each side. No chattering. Square through both sides. Drilled from one side.

Super happy with it.PXL_20240212_003428170.jpgPXL_20240212_003432113.jpg

I have a SWAG portaband table for my Milwaukee saw and also his upgrades for my JD2 notcher, bought both about 10 years ago, still using them, he makes good stuff. When I saw this roller for sale used in decent shape I jumped on it.

I want one of their finger breaks, but haven't upgraded to the 20t press yet.

I did recently upgrade my hydraulic table though.
I have HF's 500 pound one and it works great for transmissions and TCases. But I had a bigger project to do, so I got the 1000# one.

It helped a LOT pulling the motor/trans/K member out of this rav. I put the Rav up a few feet, jacked the table up with blocks in key places to make everything contact the table at the same time then put pressure on it. Pulled the bolts and let the table down slow. Once it was down I raised the lift far enough to get it out. Couldn't have done it without it.

I modified the handle by putting the handle mounts on backwards, then pulling the pins and spinning the handle back the way it should be. Now when the handle lays down it lays back at you so I can control it under the vehicle.
Can't do that with the 500#
If I want it flat to store, I pull the pins and lay it flat that way.

That is my next purchase.
Not for transmission work because I have the 2000lbs jack but for lifting things onto my truck bed or shelves

This one won't do the truck bed stuff. Get a good one for that. I wish I could have afforded one. This only hits 35" high

We have about forty of these at work with various capacity ratings that are commercial rated and they are great !
Most of them get abused regularly and hold up fairly well.
They are a favorite amongst the entire plant - very useful!
