Nice welder, I can't wait to up mine. Thinking of going to a miller 211 auto set or maybe one of those everlast multi process weldesr.
You can't go wrong with the 211, I had one for over 10 years and sold it for what I paid for it new. It was the original transformer model 211. The new inverter models are half the weight.
The Multimatic 215 is like a 211, plus DC TIG and Stick. I have only ever used stick once, and that was in Jr high shop class, it worked fine. In actual projects I've only used MIG and TIG, less cleanup and fumes. I think if I needed to weld outside stick might be ok but I would rather just use flux core wire. Stick definitely has its applications though, just not my typical uses.
The Multimatic 255 is like a 215 on steriods, its a Millermatic 255 plus DC TIG and Stick, but much higher amperage and duty cycle.
If I was getting a Multiprocess unit and didn't need AC TIG, I would get a Multimatic 215 or 255.
If I wanted AC TIG, I would get a Multimatic 220 again, or ESAB Rebel, or the HTP Revolution 2500 looks very appealing!
Miller prices are outrageous now days. There's a million cheap welders and lots of them pretty good from the YouTube guys i see using them. It's a rabbit hole to go down researching them. The YesWelders seem pretty good if you aren't using it every day. Lots of other brands too.
That's true, I've wanted a Dynasty 300 for a while but wouldn't spend the money because of the cost. But when I found the new one at half price, I couldn't pass it up. Also, I can't deny my experience with Miller thus far has been excellent, I have been able to buy 3 new welders, and sell them for what I paid for them, not every one, broke even on the 211, lost some on the Syncrowave, and actually made money on the 220, but still overall a great experience. Chinese welders will basically have no resale, or a fraction of the original cost, I don't trust them long term.
However, I also think you see all these good reviews on youtube and they were given the machine, or they sell them. Granted some wouldn't sell them if they didn't trust them but I think a lot of them are just trading videos for money. Everlast and Primeweld seem to have been around long enough to at least offer good customer service. The other new stuff such as Yeswelder and Arccaptain I feel are too new to know if they will be around for long?
I didn't know htp moved to Italy?
When I bought mine in 2002 it was usa weldand proud of it.
I just checked and the deal happened recently I 2022.
I have their mig and plasma cutter.
At least Italy not China
I think they are still good quality, Italy has much better quality than China. I'd take a European unit over any chinese unit. ESAB is Swedish and Fronius is Austrian, Fronius is a high end welder and actually lower cost than Miller. But a lot of the consumables are proprietary, so you can't just get tips or torch parts etc at any weld shop. And since the connections are different you can't just replace the whole torch with a CK or Weldcraft either.
