Got me a new DD, trying the street truck thing

One thing I'm wondering and I may be screwed here...... but is there any way to add cruise to a vehicle that doesnt have it....?

just my luck.... this things giving me troubles now:doah: it just seems to crank forever before it starts...... I've seen other forums and most say fuel pump going bad.... has any one had the same issue

Sounds like a pump or fuel pressure problem.

My Tahoe just died, there was no warning whatsoever. Replaced the pump with a unit I bought from Autozone that lasted about 25K miles, died again but this time while I was on vacation in Tahoe. Replaced that pump with an AC Delco and I've been fine ever since. You're lucky it's a truck, dropping the tank on a Tahoe sucks.

and I would replace the fuel filter first

fuel filter sounds like the best first try by what ive heard for sure.

I've been wanting to change all the fluids, plugs, fuel filter and shocks, just because there probably all factory and it does have 85,000 miles. so this just means im gonna do it sooner

I ordered new plugs, fuel filter and plug wires. All AC delco. As I was doing that I wondered if its possible to even really upgrade the ignition on these or just leave it all stock....

I have the first design coils. are the second design better, and could I swap to them if so?

Tune it up change fluids. If old coils work roll on there with what you have I would say!

that's what I was figuring.... Just was thinking about it because I figured if im gonna replace something I might as well upgrade at that time.... then wondered if it was even possible

hence, why I went all delco:waytogo: I do wanna hotrod it some.... I know its a 4.8........... but you can boost them pretty cheap and easily I here:D wont be for a bit if it ever happens. but ive seen quite a few articles about it now:thinking:

I also ordered 72sq ft of sound deadening, (to add to the 30 I already have:rolleyes:), a Kenwood headunit, and a full set of infinity kappa's to go in the stock spots...already have a 'Mobile Authority' 10" sub to put under the rear seat. just need an amp and wires now

few pics of sound deadening and stereo progress, (no real stereo progress I guess technically:rolleyes:)

plug gaps were all .040"...... supposed to be .060"..... wonder how that will change how it runs:rolleyes: also noticed that the tailpipe and muffler are WAY too small... dealer said he put a quieter muffler on it.. it's 2.75 or 3" from the cat to the muffler then necks down to a 2" muffler and tail pipe :doah: looks like I'll need a cat back:whistle:

it starts right and runs smoother now that the plugs n wires are changed. stereo is coming along... I will have pics soon.. been working and waiting on components.

Found out something interesting with this thing.... may help a few others:dunno: When i got this it had only 84000 or so miles and had a nice list of past maintenance records. But it had the cold start knock/tick bad. sounded like a cold diesel for at least 4-5 min..:doah:

just changing the spark plugs/wires (and gapping them right) eliminated it completely.

i had no reason to even look at the plugs really, ran fine. just did it because i could..... the manual even says the platinum plugs are good for 100k.... Im not running ANY plug that long if i dont have to.

No more hard starts like it had once in a while either.:waytogo:

been kickin azz on the stereo. basically compiling pics as i go and Ill sort em all and post all at once when im done.
