Got me a new DD, trying the street truck thing

I can buy 100k plug wires...but plugs?

Yeah, no.

I use a certain dealership for all my maintenance on my toyota because they've always been phenomenal... but before a trip a while back I figured I had 87k on it I'll do those plugs before the trip.... had the money, told them to do it and the service manager actually argued with me that there is NO need because the book says they'll do 100k..... said I didnt care. still left with it not done....:dunno: what ever happened to fixing stuff BEFORE it starts running bad:rolleyes:

Yeah, no.

No joke, I bought a V8 Explorer new in 97. Put my first set of plugs in it at 175,000 in 2001. It was starting a bit slow when cold.

The iridium plugs are lifetime for the most part... They last a helluva long time. Don't give as good a spark as a good old copper AC, but for the general public today they don't have to worry about them.

ones I took out weren't factory and were delco platinums.. made a huge difference in how it runs.... (gap may have been a large part)...

plugs may WORK that long and not leave you stranded nowadays....... but im not sure it'll run optimally and with the same efficiency for 100k straight. maybe they do...:dunno:

But I chose to upkeep ahead of time regularly on reasonable items to prolong and eventually predict and prevent a stranded type, or catastrophic failure. plugs seem like a reasonable item :thumb:

well ive done a few things to this truck. Ill get pics when I can. I installed a single 3" inlet/ dual 2.5" outlet Jones quietone muffler with pipes out to the side of the receiver hitch. and then between that and the CAI it had when I got it my lower end was weak..... so I got a DiabloSport Intune tuner. WOW:thumb: and im on the lowest tune (87 octane tune). much much better now..... and the stereo is going through a change phase too...... but that will be shown when its closer to done:whistle:

Look up a Diablew tune. He's the guy most recommended on Silverado/Sierra.com.

So after running the tune for a couple tanks I can say for sure that it increased my fun AND mpg. :thumb: it was enough that the wife has mentioned getting one for the denali :woot:

and im going to do a diablew tune for that when we get the tuner for sure.

8 tanks of gas, filled at 300 miles (+ or - about 20), went like this

as bought

14.8
15.2
14.5
15.5

fixed necked down PO mistake exhaust.

16.1
16.2 (installed tune for last 100 mi of this one)

had tune in (87 octane base tune)

15.9 (driving like a 16 yr old:rolleyes:)
16.8 (driving like a 40 yr old)

all of the driving is a little in town and mostly the 14 mi (one way) trip to and from work on 55 mph 2 lanes.

stereo wise
I had a major set back :doah: I think the kenwood headunit failed... ive used kenwood for my last 8 or 10 builds with no issues. but I think this one sh1t the bed. going to take the one from my burb and try it to see.

I had to add something different and can't afford wheels so....

Now needs tinted windows now. And I don't like the red/silver on the center caps. Looked better before when it was all black.
