Got my dream!

VERY nice K5 you have man, good for you in getting what you've always wanted. I'm happy for ya man :waytogo:

Wow super cool. What does the law require as far as the exhaust system goes? I am sure we could come up with a solution for you. Unless it is a measured noise level

Wow, a '91 over there...

I've read that there were only something like 7500 91's ever made...

Amazing that one of them is over there...

Excellent looking K5 very clean . Where are you in CH? I spent a summer in Waldenstadt . enjoyed it there.

could get some electric cut outs .. have quiet exhaust when you need it and dump straight out whenyou wanna upset the neighbors lol

Congrats on finding a beautiful rig !!! That is a great looking and super clean K5 , oh...your english, don't worry , it's better then some of ours :D :haha:

Looks great! Does it have one muffler with 1 in/2 out, or 2 mufflers currently? If one, just replace it with a Flowmaster 50 series. The 50 series is mellow enough when you aren't on it hard, and has a nice sound on hard acceleration.

I loved the 50 series on my blazer. You could probably have on installed over here for under $200usd, so if you have one shipped over for about $100, shouldn't cost you too much to get it installed.

Good purchase!

Yeah I know man, but there are K5's and K10's in Europe, too, so this really is 1/2 ton truck, or am I wrong? It is an original K10.

It is a 1/2 ton but half ton Blazers/Jimmys were K5's and the half ton pickups were K10/K15's.

hmmm, strange, but ok, I can live with it.

ok, here some answers to your threads:
- the laws here make problems, cause my K5 has a measured noise level, and here in Switzerland you have to show your car every 2 years to the authority of the state, they check the whole car on the technical/safety/law permission side, which means more or less everything has to be original and working, no rust!, no loud pipes, no engine changements soundwise etc.

- Well it looks like you guys all are going for the Magnaflow mufflers. Mine has a 1 entrance 2 exit pipes to the back end, they seem to be made especially from Remus here, but far to silent for me...as for an "old american car" we can have a bit louder pipes here in Switzerland, as the American cars Community is very big here, all have their toys stored in a garage and they're all build up perfectly nice, lots of Cuda's and Hemis on the reunions every year, and all of them are loud. The only half-legal trick is to ride around is I told earlier with a Dealer license plate, I'm one of the lucky ones working at a car Dealership and having one of these plates...

But the problem is, that we spend far too much on parts coming from the U.S., incredible prices here...this makes the hobby quite expensive, so very good to have a good and clean rig right from the start. I'm just letting restoring my radiator, don't be scared:
It costs me (the original radiator, but completely custom build-up from a expert), talking in US Dollars, about 700 USD, 2 years warranty and much better cooling than the standard original radiator. If I buyed on from the states (new), it costs me in the end shipped to here about 400 USD, so i'm fine by restoring, it's much much better and SWISS quality work...no more to say.

Yeah, I'm living in Zürich, the heart of Switzerland, after some international studies the city with the best living quality worldwide...

More informations on my rig:

The couple which oned the K5 before, had restored nearly the whole car, I've got all receipts of the work done on the car from 2001 - 2005, over 30'000.- USD (!!!) invested in the rig...
The guy from which I bought the car has put on the lift and the SPARCO racing seats (great seating in it) in it.

I just love that damn thing, and believe me: I will never sell this one, cause I never get one in this condition again

The designation was just a way to differentiate the SUV's from the trucks. Now if you really want to get confused look into 2wd vs 4x4 Blazers/Jimmy's.

Sounds like a good truck and a good buy. Always wanted to visit your country, know a few people over there through some shooting forums.

Dunno if you've checked these guys but www.Rock-Auto.com ships internationally. I get their newsletter and they've had several American cars in Europe featured, I remember one in Switzerland recently.

Is the lift legal? Seems like in some parts of Europe you can do anything as long as it's safe (Sweden, Norway, UK) but in others you can't do anything beyond stock (Italy).

ah yeah, and here some pics of my old rig, owned it from February to September 2009, but:
- too rusty
- too much engine leaking
- too much money spend on it...

305 carb, 2 barrel, and now watch the last photo with the plate saying:

MADE IN SWITZERLAND BY GM SUISSE SA!!!!

yes guys, there was a GM Factory plant in Switzerland, building American cars with legendary Swiss quality...
So this was one of the legendary K5's for sure, shouldn't have sold it, but needed the money...

sold it for USD 5000.-

...and about the K5 / K10 story...see the plate? it says also CK10 on the model type...and it is not a pick-up...you just can take away the hardtop.

And here's my question:
Can anyone help me to find a solution on my mufflers for reasonable price? No hurry, as I won't move the K5 over the winter, it stays in the Garage and will be made ready for next summer.

Nice find. You should be able to get a flowmaster off the internet and have it shipped, It should not cost that much for shipping.
