got my truck back!! Now with Pics.

That bumper is rediculous...:eek1::haha:

Naah, its just right.......

Actually there is a cosmetic reason for it.
My old truck had the 79' skinny bumper. So I ran some 2 inch or so channel iron.
This truck had the wide bumper that covered up most of the undercarrige.

Look at a Ford truck. The bumper is wide. I put the same size steel on that I had used for the old truck, and it looked terrible.
The fenders hung down below the bumper, you could see the bottom of the radiator, just bad looking.

I was going to make some kind of flap or something to cover all that up, but there was some heavy 4" channel iron laying there........

Perfect. covered everything up, and was structurally strong to boot.
Little heavy, but that was what the snow plow option was for.
Truck rode a little high in front until I mounted the bumper and winch, and then it came down level.

Its mounted on about 3 inch channel iron straight back to the frame. Crossbraced with other channel that has the winch mounted between.

I have cut off a 6 inch pine tree going about 40 with it with no damage. Came over a hill and one of my friends had parked in the road.
It was hit his truck or the tree.

Bye Bye Pinus elliotii...And I have told the story about scaring the game warden off by launching a small tree across the highway in front of him.

I have pushed over trees and bushes, cars and moved a small house with that bumper.
Makes a great platform to work on the engine with. And, I have used it as an anvil when I needed to hammer on something out in the field.

Like I said......Just right...

Its nice to see pics of that thing finally...

I hope you guys put another Ford sender in, I had a hell of a time getting one that would work from a certain parts store. I ended up putting a used ford one in and no problems since.

That ford fuel injection does some really weird stuff when something isnt right... Right now I have an issue with my ford where it idles really high at a cold start. If I stab the throttle once, it idles down to where it belongs. I'm not too worried about it yet.

All in all, the late 80's to early 90's Ford pickups have to be one of the best vehicles ever made. My 89 has 193K on it now and was VERY neglected for quite a while by the previous owner, but the thing just keeps going. Im glad to hear you have 300K on that thing, gives me hope that mine will be around for a long time to come.
