So Ive had some KC's a friend gave to me a few days ago. They are on my bumper, thats it. Any suggestions on how to hook them up? Im gonna need a switch, some wire, and a fuse. Is there a way I should hook them up? Thanx in advance.

Use a relay for each one. Have the switch send the signal to the relays and let them do the work. Your switch will last longer that way, and the lights will be brighter. You can mount the relays next to each other in an easy to get to spot close to the battery.

Relay, got it. Any specific gage wire? 4? We connected them strait to my battery just to see if they work. They do, thats for damn sure. The lights actually produce heat! So im thinkin I dont want the wires burning.

4 gauge wire? That's waaayy too thick. I used like 12 or 14. Obviously the thicker the better, but 4 gauge is gonna look like a freaking snake running all over your engine bay....

Yeah, 14 is what I meant Im sure. I'll be wiring them tonight I hope.

You only need one relay for 2 lights. The rest is pretty easy. 14gauge wire will be fine. Avoid too many splices/crimps in it though. I had to completely rewire mine when I was getting really bad AMP draw when I would turn on my lights, it was just some bad splices/crimps so I started all over and its fine now.

Dont forget your pics. :D

I used one 70 amp relay to power two Light Force 240's and a pair of cheep KC-style 50 watt lights.

most of the auto parts chains have a prewired harness for offroad lights in the same aisle as the lights....only cost about $20 and comes with everything you need

Yeah, I bought a cheap harness off eBay for mine. Works great, I just run one relay.

How do you wire in a Relay? Ive got 3 rigs without relays. The K10 and C10 run two 100 Watters without and my Blazer runs two 55s without? I havent had any problems and they are plenty damn bright.

I never understood what significance it has. I've wired up many things without relays and they've worked fine. Maybe someone can enlighten us why we should use relays...

Basically the relays take the load that the switch cant. You dont want full power hitting your switch, they werent really rated for that. So the relay makes the power aka volts hit "soft" but allowing the power to go thru the relay and then the relay physically flips its internal switch to give you juice.

:D

Well, I got the auxilary light harness from NAPA. Everything is installed. However, it doesnt work. The switch indicates that it works, but no lights. When I can see tommarow Ill check for grounds.
