Gotta new build coming up!

better be :p:

I hope it doesn't end up out of my price range, and doesn't fudge with my stupid tall shifter.

I can't see the shifter being an issue at all.

Couple other items that have to be attended to and after that its all dash. :D

I'm just worried about it being too close too dash itself. I don't know if you've seen my setup, but in park, the knobs pretty close to the dash.

If you're keeping it street legal/driveable, a panhard setup would be sweet. I'd buy one.

For sure!! With all the guys running the 52's a panhard would make them much more tolerable on the street.

I haven't looked through this entire thread to see if anyone else has suggested it, but I would like to see you work up some bolt-on rock sliders for this '85 that would work with the stock side-saddle gas tank. Then I would quit sending you e-mails asking when you're going to start making and selling them! Square tube for the main body with some round tube sticking out just beyond the doors would be best, I think.

Kert, any updates on this project? Come awn I know you haven't been working hard on other stuff. :wink1:

Any word on the gas tanks?

Still chuggin' away on falling behind. Putting on more man hours starting next week so hopefully that'll help.

Words on the gas tank? Could put unleaded fuel only.... or Diesel only on them....:D

Something often asked about and never seen would be tranny/tcase Xmember kits. Perhaps some sort of kit that had main components but can be customized by the buyer. Everyone needs one but not everyone has all the tools, like me!

I will look for the pic but in regards to the np203/205's I've seen some really nice mounts that utilize pre-existing covers/bolt holts and basicly a triangular arm with poly bushings.

Someone who was building toyota gear made a nice Xmember that bolted to the yoke flange.

could probably do something custom anytime. Do you have a specific size or....

Not looking for a specific size, just something in the 25 gal range. My reason for a cell is that I hate how low an OE tank hangs. Of course, I'd like to retain the OE filler and a sending unit.

I'm also trying to plan exhaust routing, what are your thoughts on doing some sort of cut out or step or... to allow for a tailpipe to pass between the frame and tank on the driver side? I want to run pipe all the way out but don't want to drop below the tank making it vulnerable.

no probs foreseen on the OE filler and the sending unit is easily doable.

First thoughts on exhaust between the two are heat. Definitely would need some insulation between the two. Tank is getting smaller all the while.

For insulation could you hang a second layer of metal off of the cut out area with an air gap between it and the tank? Sort of like the heat shields bolted to the underside of the floor?

What will the cells be made of, steel or aluminum? Any ideas on the dimensions of a tank in the 25 gal range. Fwiw, I have a 1" body lift if the room on top helps.

If you can, shoot me a ballpark price so I can start planning. $ :D $
