"Hardcore" 89 (Black and Blue). IT RUNS, DRIVES, AND STOPS. BUILD ON HOLD

going back to the front spring change you did
why did you move the rear spring mounts/shackles
is it something that has to be done when going to 52's

Yeah it's not necessarily a requirement, but moves the shackle hanger up and forward for a better angle. There are people who have done it without moving that mount.

About to attempt a 52 swap with an A-bomb center myself.

I would prefer not to move the rear shackle out of laziness, but I also thought it would move the axle forward.

How far is that supposed to move the axle forward?

I have read 2", but was not sure how reputable the source is.

I really do not want to move my axle forward since I am doing this in conjunction with a cut and turn (will screw my newly created pinion angle).

I have a set of zero rates, which I could use to move it back an inch, however I bought a set of springs with a 2" lift, so the zero rate will likely make it too high.

I read on another post that using lifted springs would somehow screw up the conversion, not sure how, once again not sure about the source.

I've always heard to use stock springs but I have no personal experience. Stock is worth 5" of lift usually, if the springs are in good shape. I think that's with the overload leaf removed but again not sure.

Sorry for the thread hijack,

but I have an abomb with 52's and an ez inch in the front. Stock 52's in the front by themselves gives you 4" of lift, if you add the ez inch, it will give you 5" (with stock springs). If you use 2" lift 52's by themselves, it will give you 6" of lift over stock. If you use the abomb, you can put the front spring in the second hole from the front and can keep the rear shackle hanger in the stock location (shackle angle is pretty much perfect) and it will keep the axle in the stock location. If you look in my build thread, I have quite a few pics of when I installed it. I only used my ez inches to move my axle 1" forward. If you use lift springs, it should still work pretty good, but you may have to adjust your shackle length to get a good angle, but that should be it.

hijack over....sorry MTBLAZER89, it's looking good :waytogo:

Awhile back after I got home from deployment I had Jesse redo my front shaft with a 1410 yoke to match the new stuff I got last year.

Beefy! :pimp:

First wheeling trip this year. Not too many pictures do to the breakage in the TJ. Questionable welds on the upper truss for the rear upper links broke.. 2 links and a sway bar dont quite cut it!! :dunno:

Pretty sweet MJ came along with us. Friend of a friend.

5.3/TH400/Atlas/D60/14B.. coil overs yada yada Jeep tough with Chevy stuff :haha:

Snow trip a couple weekends ago!

Plenty of stuck Jeeps so I had a good day :pimp:

I broke trail most of the day. Got into 18-24 inches in a few places.

Couple videos. Havent chopped up all the go pro videos except the stills above.

Had to subscribe, started reading your thread but have a way to go to get through it all. Cool rig.

Thanks man! Keep reading I get things done eventually LOL

I am on deployment... Again so currently saving cash for who knows what.

The Magnum box is still on my radar. Haven't checked the behemoth threads in awhile.

I have plenty of tube to work with on the rest of the cage and rear bumper.

Linking the rear has been getting kicked around. Coil Overs or ORI?

LS swap, but I think with my limited times at home this motor will work for another season easily.

5.13's and an OX for the front.

All on the "someday" list

Short list. Behemoth is awful. Good product if you can wait months

Yeah I think I will just suck it up and go with ORD and the proven customer service. This is something I would order before I got home so I don't want to deal with phone calls and shipping issues. Just a simple exchange of money for goods shipped to my house in a timely manner :pimp:

My engine is crap so that's my first project. Can't make up my mind what I want yet just lots of torque. Also want you to know I appreciate all you folks deployed out there.

Thanks man :usaflag:

I still keep an eye on the for sale boards and CL for a 5.3 or 6.0, but its definitely not at the top of my "to-do" list.

This motor runs like a top and has never given me issues which is one of the reasons I leave it be, but I ran it real hard a couple years ago during a couple snow trips while also discovering I do not have a rev limiter :doah: so now it burns a little oil and also smokes a bit on start up. Other than being underpowered I have no complaints with it. 5.13's will prolly make it feel like a new motor :pimp:

A doubler will have the same effect. My tbi motor was decent before but is great with a doubler. Even when it was running stupid rich due to bad cts I still was never short of power.

Yeah, my 350 TBI is a pretty tired engine, and I break plenty when in Low, Low, Low.

Hard to complain with the reliability of TBI's, and I agree with both comments above. Lower gearing both in diff's and in the form of a doubler might make you think twice about LS. Not to say you wouldn't be happy with an LS, just more work than most people think (and more $). I keep on saying that I have spent enough time and energy to swap the TBI into my truck (re-working harness and everything), that if my motor starts giving up, I think I will just rebuild it and freshin' it up a little. But I don't care much about high HP or really high tourqe, I just like that when I am on my side it will keep running :D

Can't wait for some updates :waytogo:
