"Hardcore" 89 (Black and Blue). IT RUNS, DRIVES, AND STOPS. BUILD ON HOLD

I don't like how the A pillars are bent so I'm going to do new ones to go with my new halo.

That's current as of tonight! Enjoy I will update again as I make progress on the cage work.

One thing you might want to do is put one or two more mounts on the steering cylinder. Mine cyl has only two right now and it has moved on me a couple of times no matter how tight the bolts.

This is something I was thinking of doing. But we just kept an eye on the cylinder and it never moved

Iirc, lots of buggy folks use 4 clamps - 2 per side, one on each side of the fitting.

Yeah I noticed a lot of the buggies run 4 clamps on the cylinder. I will mark it and watch.

Didn't get much done tonight. Lots of standing around looking at tubing. I'm going to cut the seat bridge off the B pillar so I can set the plates in the same location as my previous cage. Less work than redesigning new frame mounts. I think this will also make it easier to mock up new A pillar bars and the new halo.

I got some cardboard templates made for the A pillar floor plates and holes marked on the floor.

Not sure how I'll tie the A pillars to the frame yet. The body rib is right where that tube will come down. Maybe combo it with a slider brace.

Besides the cage work I'm
Waiting on the rest of my DIY4x dash to arrive.
Still need to cut the rockers and weld in sliders
Swap tanks build mounts to raise it. (mine has holes)
New windshield
Remove front clip
Swap axles
Install exo
Combine exo with internal cage
Rework front and rear bumpers
Skins
I'm sure there's more.

Does anyone have pictures of how they braced the A pillar to the frame with the A pillars through the dash. My tubes land pretty much right on top of the body rib. My floor plate has plenty of area on both sides of the rib, but I am unsure the best way to brace it to the frame underneath. I've considered maybe removing the stock body rib all together and building something new, but that's a snowball so looking for ideas! My sliders will be integrated into the rockers and tied in with the A and B pillar as well.

So your builds name is "Hardcore" need to live up to its name......... No reason to keep the stock body mount. That being said figure out what you are doing for a slider then build from there.

In my picture that first rib is where the stock mount was.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I can probably leave the body mount there, but cut that rib off where the A pillar bottom plate needs to go then reinforce it with a slider brace tied into the frame and the A pillar plate.

Quick update before bed.

New A pillars are done and welded to the halo. Spreader bars are cut, but not finished.
Halo is notched to fit the B hoop. Floor plates are cut and ready to be drilled.
Bed floor is removed.
Old leaky gas tank is out.
Rear tank crossmember is removed and ready to be relocated.

Best place to buy new tank straps?
What did those of you who raised the tank do for the hard lines? Are they long enough? Just tweak the bends so they reach?

Pics from the last weeks update.

Ordered some metric to -6 fittings and 12" braided lines to reach the raised fuel tank today along with some new tank straps.

Gotta get the crossmembers raised up. Otherwise just building floor plates and cleaning up the rear frame area.

I think I'll get the flip swapped out and 63s in while everything is easily accessible since I'm waiting on parts.

Got the crossmembers for the tank raised up and welded in. Hopefully 1.625 .120 wall DOM is sufficient..Lol

Cleaned up the frame and sprayed some primer.

Got my fittings for extending the lines for the raised tank.

Got floor plates started and some halo spreader bars too.
