My buddy just sent his 6.5 into the machine shop. Full rebuild with new heads is gonna be 3500 or thereabouts. But that is with brand new heads

I'm still in the imagination stages. I'm currently building a barn up in Maine so that's been taking up my physical work time.

3500 sounds about what I would expect. I know it might not be the best idea, but I'd like to do the assembly work myself when it's time.

I'm also half wondering if I should be putting the turbo on the stock 6.2 in the meantime after reading about so many people doing it successfully.

Yah I will probably at some point rebuild one of these too. I think you should put the turbo on it.

Only if the garbage disposal is loose and a really old one that should have been replaced years ago.

Rich, I have a pair of 1997 6.5 heads that came off the motor I grabbed my turbo setup from. I also have misc turbo parts and serpentine conversion parts. Shoot me a PM if you are interested. Interested to see the outcome of this build.
