hey there, since im putting a bunch of money into my axles (60/14b: new gears and detroits in both) i wanna protect my investment. id also like to have a ram mount, but i guess i could always just buy the ram mount from diy4x to work with any diff cover. which would you guys choose:

GreatlakesOffroad
KidJethro (stopped making them a while ago, duno when he will start back up) i like how his a fill and drain plug
DIY4X (on the site hes got 14b posted, but does he have a 60 one?)
Blue torch

Definetly diy4x. it may not be as beefy as the glo cover but i gaurantee you wont break it, and its the cheapest. Also goty to love the looks for it:D The d 60 cover isnt available yet but will be soon, kerts working on it...or so we all hope:D

also do you realize how easy it is to add a fill/ drain hole? just drill and tap the cover for a npt plug

I support local vendors as well......but its another option...and as for strength, Ive never seen 1 break.

Well since you let the other thread die I'll respond again. :p:

I'm buying a rear cover from Kert for my 14b. Kid is making a front cover out of a ring Kert made me when Kid gets back in the game. The GLO covers are beef but if you're bending 1/4" plate covers...you obviously have anger issues with your rig.

I love my Razorback cover from DIY4X. I got the guardsman from him also. And to be really sweet, buy a ck5 fender badge from him also and put a notch into one of the ribs of the razorback cover and weld the fender badge into it. I just did that and it looks sweet. People will be behind me on the highway and be thinking WTF is that truck and WTF does CK5 mean. I Love It.

Leper...never thought of that...cool idea man. Might have to do the same if you don't mind me copying you.

Working on gettin my 14bff ready to bolt up to my '85 and the razorback is definitely on the list---just looking at it makes me want to thrash somethin:saweet:

Do it!!!!
Hell, he should make them that way. lol
I would post a pic, but I don't know how to get it out of my phone.

My next one will be the razorback from DIY4X.

That thing is sweet:bow: :pimp:

Good idea Leper, oh just email the pics to yourself.

this is a TOUGH question... i voted blue tortch. 4 pieces to the cover not counting the fill plud and the tube around it. 3 welds, again not counting the fill tube deal. less to leak, and structurly more sound. they are ALL beef. i doubt any of them will break. kert is an awesome guy and i dig his work, but the fewer wellds on something with fluid the better in my eyes. if KJR is still making them his are great also, but again, the fewer parts the better i think.

one thing i dont know about is price. with me i have to factor price in as well. i dont know the prices, so my vote is just off the pictures.

again, a tough call, and i didnt want to do it....

i can definetly see your thinking, but for 50 -75 bucks less over btf id take kerts cover. with the quality that goes into them theres no chance of any of them leaking. also kert welds his on a 14b housing so you know its going to fit right...

i agree, like i said i didnt know about prices. looking back at the pics i think kerts cover is made the same way... i dunno
