Help me ID some old school traction bars

agree on homemade, but they are very similar in appearance to a set of Lakewood bolt-on ladder bars I had decades ago... bit bigger and bulkier tho...

agreed!

If those bars were produced by a company its a good thing theyre out of business now...
:haha::haha:
here's the Lakewoods I had back in the day...

Loved those bars way more than the slapper bars.

Question about trac bars in general.

I've seen them both with and without a shackle in the front. Does that really matter? Are there and good tech articles about building a DIY trac bar?
Or should I just wing it see what I can come up with?

My SRW 14b FF came with a sway bar and mounts on the axle tube. I junked the sway bar, but left the mounts. They look similar to 3 hole spring perches without the center hole, and they are welded on the front of the axle tubes. (I can post pics if needed)

Anyway I thought they would be perfect to use for trac bar mounts. I was kind of thinking of making a Y shaped bar and welding or bolting a skid plate to the bottom to protect the drive shaft and pinion.

Thought?

On the forward end of the bar you'll need both a shackle and brim or flex joint. These work together to allow a full range of suspension travel with binding but they will still control wheel hop.

Thanks guys, I'm sure you'll be seeing what ever I go with before too long.
