Just tell her if you don't replace the battery--she "might" get stranded (or worse !
)..one tow bill far exceeds the cost of a new battery!..

Well then get a new alternator from Western Alternator and a new Deka battery... AGM or lead acid. That's why I was counting on your help with a truck older than me......
Oh mine is more than reasonable. It just goes a lot better when you have an explanation. Truthfully it's more about justifying it to myself probably.Well then get a new alternator from Western Alternator and a new Deka battery... AGM or lead acid.
Then a new tray to hold the battery.
Tell the wife that this is the best solution for long term reliability!
Can't half ass it!!
My wife puts up with a good amount from me as far as truck stuff.....
Not a bad idea. I forgot on my crew cab I put a larger gauge wire in.I'd add a 10 gauge wire from the "charge" stud on the back of the alternator to the positive battery post,so it'll be able to handle the increased amps better..your old original wiring may not like the increased load..
I did that to my diesel pickup and noticed the amp meter reads higher and you could tell the batteries had more guts when cranking it--it's only 36 years old,so I'm sure the wires are turning green inside!..

I always forget about getting this stuff from Pat. I ended up ordering a new ACDelco 12SI alternator from Amazon; it had a 20% off deal for "Green Monday" so it was only $56. It bumps the output up to 100amps over the 63amps the current one has. Thinking about future add-ons.
