Help With Ongoing Project

There's very low amperage that flows through that wired. The solenoid is like a relay allowing the big amperage to flow through the primary thick wire.

Back to the "power into the fuse block but not out of it"

Where did you test each of these. Did you test directly at the fuse block? Are you referring to the main power into the fuse block?

This is important because if you checked at the device itself then you may have a break in the wires. I don't recall you saying you ever traced that ECM wire down to figure out where you lose power. You may have to start cutting wire loom/wrapping away and piking the insulation with a sewing needle or sharp test leads.

Start at the ecm and follow it backwards.

If you had power directly into the fuse block but not out at the component lead, then pull apart the fuse block and find the damaged part.

Work one circuit at a time.

I physically remove the block from the firewall and tested it. Main power is good. No power at the ECM.

Test the power coming out of the block. if there's power then continue down the wires till power stops.

Going to be tracing this weekend, on other news looking real close to be a 5.3 truck. Motor needs new distr (breaks up on the high end), TBI to be rebuild and ECM to be reprogrammed for the motor. By the time I mess with that I can have some decent money towards a 5.3.

Sort out the electrical bugs and then onto a LS. :woot:

Out, current wiring issue has been solved. Wire from the fuse box to the steering column had crack and not fixed. Fuel pump kicks on and truck fires up. Bad news the TBI runs like poo.

The TBI itself? Or the engine?

If engine then check the timing.

I know the distributor needs some work. But both injectors are not spraying the same. Drivers side is more of a weak piss then a spray.

Well that's no good. Lol

No doubt. So now the question lies in front of me. Put the money into the TBI and distributor to find out there are other issues with the the TBI crap (i.e. Map, etc) or......5.3 it. This project has been way to much of a project.

Ahh, but you are winning the battle! See, fixing something is much more satisfying than replacing parts right?!

I wonder if your fuel pressure is low?? Seems like that would affect both injectors but its still a question I've got..

Just got to remember that anytime you start changing things that weren't in there originally then it's gonna be a whole new project. It'll have bugs and such to sort out as well.

Plus it runs consistent under WOT, so I don't think that should be a pump issue

I know, I know. Plus more $$$
But, the end result is pretty sweet.

OK. Good point then, I'd tend to agree. Can you swap the injectors to see if the symptom follows the suspect bad one?

I suppose I could, but frankly if I keep it , I will just rebuild it. With that i will swap to test for bad injector

...fuel filter?...

If one injector has good flow and the other doesn't then the injector is probably bad or clogged. You could try and run some seafoam thru it or replace with known good part.

Seafoam? All I have is pond scum. J/k

What is seafoam?

I don't generally believe in fuel tank additives and hocus pocus black magic snake oils in bottles but sea foam has been known to work and work well.

It's comes in a white can for about $10 and is a chemical design to clear carbon soot and other gunk. It may work or it may not but I usual run it with only have the amount of fuel it suggest mixing it with. Will will usually cause white smoke and smell until its all burnt though.

Agreed. Seafoam is good stuff. I used to use it in my Vette when storing it, and have used it over the years in many marine applications.

How does it do in other applications? Ie bikes, etc.

16 oz good enough? Cleans out ethonal?
