Tecton, do you have any kids... or any family for that matter /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif? If you do, what do you consider a good family event? Possibly an exciting night of Scrabble, or hey kids, maybe we can all sit around and watch Friends...WON'T THAT BE FUN!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Hey, I certainly don't agree with Tecton's response, or with the comments about having your kids taken away. BUT: you are implying above that he (or anyone) would be a pussy for NOT taking their kids.

You taking your kids was your choice, and it doesn't make you a "moron". I choose not to take my kid (she is only 3 mo. old) and probably won't take her until she is MUCH older. I just took the first kid wheeling (my godson) at 7 years old, which I was comfortable with. Again: MY CHOICE.

So just because he jumped your ass about it don't imply people with a little more caution are wrong either.

The point is you chose to take them, you also chose to take reasonable precations for their safety, an accident occurred, and everyone's fine.

I am glad everyone is OK, and you must have the COOLEST WIFE on the planet.

Besides, at this point I'm glad my family can't go with, I can't stand the wife bitching about my highway driving as it is. It's even worse off road. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Well, I just got back to work after a long day and saw that these posts about my rollover have blown up!!!
I don't know where you got the idea that I was saying people who don't take their kids are pussies. What I got from Tecton was that a day of wheelin, where there is definetly any amount of risk involved, is not family fun and that I am irresponsible for thinking this way. Yes, I do choose to take my kids with me, I build my rigs accordingly, and I am not going to cry, bitch, moan, etc... when an accident happens and nobody is hurt.

The nice thing is that this is AMERICA and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and the right to voice that opinion too.
For instance, I think that Tecton is probably the kind of guy that called the FCC when Janet Jackson's boob popped out on the Superbowl.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I hope my post didn't come off the wrong way, I was trying to say the same thing:

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Take 'em with or don't; none of my business.

hey tecton,
i apoligize to you for calling you a moron, when i reread your post that started all this, i could understand your consern about the kids. it was an accident what poohbair did, he has, nor does anyone else have any control over gravity.

noone does a crash test on a vechicle with a roll cage because only about (im guessing here) 40% of the people who wheel (which is about 10% of the entire population) actually needs one. only about 1/2 of those cages actually get used. also there is only 1 manufacturer of cages that i know of, most people have a fab shop build them for them.

but anyway, you can't control the other drivers on the road, you have no idea what they are going to do next. its almost the same with gravity, friction, and other factors in this accident. given gravity does the same thing (pulls down) but you can not tell what this soil is going to do (hold the tire or let the tire slide), you can guess but no garentees. the soil under his rig slide and then grabed half way down the hill and gravity pulled the truck over.

he built a cage in his truck to protect anyone/anything in the truck should the unexpected happen. i have never rolled a truck but i have done other stuff just as scary and have came throught it with none/minimal injuries. i was scared but when it was over, i would do it again just to have the rush, but i would need to be garenteed to have the same results as the first time. that likely never happens.

like i said im sorry, and i hope you understand where we are coming from. i found this site because of the chevy trucks, not the wheeling aspect, but know i enjoy wheeling just as much as the next person.

thanks TJ
