Homebrew hydro assist DONE

Thanks for the pics I went a little higher and made mine bolt to the diff cover with 3 bolts. Any reason you put the clips for the pins on top seems if one would break or come loose (they are tight but my luck they would come loose) the pin would fall out and be gone before you realized.

The pins are on the top and bottom, that's just the way they were.

I think I'm just going to find some 1" grade 8s and throw those in there.

I just got my Great Lakes Offroad 1/2" thick diff cover ,maybe I should have mounted the ram to that. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Mine is set up so when I build my diff protection it will fit together like a hand in a glove. I'll be sure to post some pics when it is done.

are these the same on a 2wd box? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

GOOD DEAL!
I need to get me a couple magnets and build a v channel for the drillpress /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

so how did you mount the ram?

Take it half way out and weld it?
Just curious who came up with stroke length needed for full lock-to-lock steering /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

We used a blow gun to push it all the way out and then back in, marked the middle, welded it up, and tested to ensure the ends didn't hit the tabs, trimmed as required, I came home and finished the welding and hooked up the hoses and was done.

Don't use the diff cover as a mounting point. The bolt holes allow a tiny bit of movement, this creates a leak very fast. Mr Fox made that comment a while ago and I have taken notice.

Mine's attached to my rock ring..not the cover...

LOL...actually...I found a way around the problem.. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I soaked the cover gasket with high-tac gasket sealer
then basically glued the cover on..
Now the cover won't move at all...even with 44's... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The rock ring cover is a nice place to mount to...
the fittings are out of danger.. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mine isn't on the cover either made a bracket that uses the bolt holes. Plus it is on the top so It shouldn't leak plus I use silicone sealant along with the gasket as insurance against leaks. Got mine all mounted just need to take the pics and post up it was too dark lastnight.

I've got the helmet habit down a while ago. A few days out of commission thanks to flash burned eyes will do that to you.

I had to drive over an hour after really bad flash burn, I had to drive at night so it helped some, but any car or light would blind me, I also got pulled over twice on the way home.

I will never risk the life I love like that again.

where a frickin helmit /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I once wore a tank top while welding overhead with no gloves. That was great!! I highly recommend it to any masochists out there.

Ok Tim now I am going to do that ..
Have the ram free from my dad.(he was going to toss it out)
tap the box...Just buy the lines..Thanks

Check out this low buck Hydro-assist setup

Don't know how it would act on the street, but it seems stable in the trail's and you don't get no cheaper then using all stock parts /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
