how can i get more power from my 454?

Video says that I don't have permission to view..........can I have permission please........lol

I don't really care, but I did think the same thing when I read that it was rotated 180 degrees.

anyone else have an issue with a shake under acceleration before? the only new parts are the engine build and the stall converter. I'd hate to tear the truck apart again on a whim, is there a way to test it? It seems like if i flip the lockup switch the shake goes away... but it could be in my head.

1st gear I can be on it as hard as i want no issues,
2ng gear if im 3/4 or more throttle it has a good shake
3rd gear same as above maybe even 1/2 throttle
4th same as above

however if i flip my lockup switch it seems way way better...
Unbalanced converter ?
Wrong stall?
Phantoms?

I guess it could also be a misfire but the guy that tuned it is a pro so it seems rather unlikely

If it doesn't do it in 1st I'd count out any engine problems. Locking the converter and having improvement, I'd say makes the converter suspect.

Does it do it in neutral? If it doesn't do it when you rev it in neutral, its highly unlikely its the engine (unless its a miss under load or something, which you should hear).

Also, if doesn't do it in neutral, rotating the converter probably won't do anything (and shouldn't), as the turbine and impeller(converter case) both spin with the engine. Now, the stator doesn't turn in neutral as it is what transmits the power to the input shaft. If locking and unlocking the converter makes a difference, you might be getting leaking in the converter circuit and it is trying to lockup but can't and causes a shudder as the TCC grabs and lets go. Did you damage the o-ring on the input shaft? I would be checking that if locking trhe converter solves the problem, I have had converters before that wouldn't go on without damaging the o-ring and I had to send the converter back and get it fixed before I could install it. Of course, if too much damage was done to the TCC by slipping it then eventually the problem will go away and the converter won't lock anymore.

If it does do it in neutral, I would looking at the balancer and flexplate to make sure the are correct for the crank.

Remember, in issues like this, it helps to figure out if the shaking is dependent upon engine RPM, tire RPM, driveshaft RPM (would be the same in 3rd gear), etc. And also whether t does it in neutral, or certain gears, or TCC locked, etc, accell, decell, etc. Good luck.

Lots of good info,
It seems to be mostly load dependent... If I ease up to higher RPM there's no problem or minimal shaking but if i am full throttle or 3/4 throttle it feels like im driving over a washboard and it never gets better no matter how high the rpms go. yes flipping the lockup switch seems to make the shaking better or go away. only does it on accell, I haven't really checked it in neutral. doesn't seem to do it in first just 2nd and up.
If they damaged the o ring would it be leaking? I'm trying to figure out how to test things...

I might take it to a transmission shop that builds custom torque converters and have them go through and test everything. worst case is i have to pull the trans again and swap a converter. so with the balancer and flywheel, It's the same stuff i was using before, however I do have a new crank so I suppose it could be a weird match...

The shop that just put the whole thing back together and did the tune seems to think it was the TC but they said " just drive it" "Enjoy your truck for a while if it drives you nuts we can address it" Well I'm crazy and shakes/ vibrations keep me up at night... believe it or not despite having swampers this truck was as smooth as a caddy and id like that back. especially if i have to drive it for 4 hours to go wheeling.... 4 hours of shaking just sounds shitty..

I believe the hydraulic circuit for the TCC prevents it from locking in 1st gear, even if the solenoid is improperly telling it to turn on. But if you have a leaking o-ring or faulty TCC clutch or circuit then who knows.
