How come these mods don't stop? TONS OF PICS...beware

Well I got the 15 gallon Summit fuel cell installed and up going. She now runs, but no brakes. I am searching down the correct PV and should have that in at GM Friday or Monday. Off to the muffler shop and then a tuneup and she will be ready for some trail damage. Still lots to go on this project but I want some seat time.

Anyone know of a good West Texas shop for tube work? I need a full cage and seat braces installed and don't think I am going to get myself a bender. I would just get a kit but I need some off the wall pieces with the narrow job and I am going to remove the dash and need a upright where the top was cut etc.

Haha, I thought you said in my Pirate thread that you were trying to keep up with me...looks like you're WELL beyond my build. :p:

Looks awesome man. That's all extremely clean compared to my work. I sure do wish you southern guys would ship some rust free bodies up here. I'm trying to get my 8274 mounted tomorrow (for the third time now  ) I'll throw a couple of pictures up in the garage if everything goes smoothly.

Well Mikey it still isn't moving or should I say stoping under it's own power.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Heck without any replies lately I wasn't going to continue and update this post. when I first started it I got tons of PM questions but nothing lately. I thought everyone might hav grown old of my rants.

Haha, nope, I think some of the stuff (like shortening the hard top) is something that doesn't interest very many people. You're well on your way to a killer rig. The only reason you're not already there is you don't have brakes...but I suppose then the rig really would be a killer. :p:

What's all in the works yet for it?

DIY tube doors and front stinger which Kert is working on now :D
Hydro assist steering (DIY cover with mount)
Full cage
Aluminum Dash
Front racing seats with 5 points
Move current fiero buckets to rear
DIY Beadlocks / Boggers
Front locker
DIY "assualt weapon" 14 bolt dif cover
Belly Pan
5.13

All this is for sure the dreaming parts are endless after these mods. I hope within 1-2 years to move everything over to a 4 link full tube chassis

I must say if it wasnt for you and this thread I would of never copied your front narrowing job. :D

And this is precisely why I refuse to put my 205 in and swap out my junked 203, I'd rather drive around without 4 wheel drive than tear my rig apart...:haha: :haha: :haha: :doah:

Wait wait wait....you're planning all this and don't have money for a doubler? :p:

Cool man, my truck mods are gonna stop real soon due to finances...wish I was actually working so I could continue with the building. Oh well, maybe I'll actually wheel it now. :D

I have about decided to wait on the doubler for the tube chassie bud, but it is on a wish list along with the crate motor and

i love the half top man! i just bought a soft top for mine, maybe ill go crazy and try it out with my old hardtop :D

Just givin you crap man. You've gone one hell of a rig the way it is that most people (read: ME) would love to own. Make sure and keep us updated.

But what about the audio equipment for it ???

Z3 now I should have seen that one coming from you :p: I have a marine Kenwood and some 6x9 that is all that is going in this one. I have a tow rig full of goodies for you though :D Just a tease but it starts off with an Eclipse AVN5495 30GB HDD navagation with full touchscreen and DVD capabilities. Plus you can store over 3,000 songs on the hard drive.

Not much has gotten done the last few days. I am still waiting on the stealership to get me the PV I ordered so I can get the brakes back up and going. I will confirm part numbers when I get it up and running so people will have it when doing the rear disk conversion. I think I have found a $50 factory valve that will bolt in and save over the inline tube part which is $99 :wink1:

I did get the window frames finished that will hold the racing nets in the rear windows just to help keep the passengers from sticking an arm out the window. I also got the rear bumper welded up, ends capped and painted. Basically I just wanted something to reinforce the rear frame and have some points for extraction.

My rollcage will attach to the upper "bumper" and then a hinged stinger will fold off that fixture to rest on the ground. I am going to use this as the spare tire carrier. Once locked in the hinged up location it will only stick past the rear bumper a few inches as to not effect departure angles but maybe help prevent it from rolling over end to end. It is a stolen idea I got from www.spydercustoms.com Mine will mount higher and set inboard more. I would like to ultimately have most of the tire inside the rear.

My front stinger should be in tom. Kert over at DIY4x.com did the custom work for me at a near nothing cost  Make sure you check him out for just about any of your tube needs. This is one straight shootin guy. I can't say enough good things about everything he has done for me. I am chomping at the bit to get my tube doors in and trying my best not to PM him daily on progress :D

I am trying to decide where I am going to mount my C02 bottle. I wanted to put it in the rear between the two bucket seats (the front seats are going back there, fiero buckets with wet okie covers) but I don't think I will have room. I won the bottle on ebay and it should be here shortly. I am going to plumb in lines with multiple quick disconnects so I do not need to move the bottle except to get it filled.

I'll post some pictures tom of the stinger installed.

I got the stinger in today via UPS and already got it mounted up and painted.

Once again Kert did some awesome work and the bend and plug weld looks awesome. All I had to do was decide what angle to mount it up. Cut the ends and weld it up. I am contemplating a few gussets between the tube and mount just incase of a hard impact. It mounts up to the winch mount right infront of some 1/2 gussets so no worries there. I am just thinking that maybe the weld around the tube might not be enough to hold it on impact.

Any thoughts???

One of these days I'll remember to get some rivets and reattach that plug on the 8274. It is hardwired in the cab but I still want to be able to use the plug on the winch.

Looking good!!

But what is plug welded in the stinger??

I needed the very sharp bend in the stinger since it was narrow at the bottom. So he bent two pieces. Cut them and installed a plug in the end that slid inside the two pieces and then welded around them, ground them flush and presto chango a super nice bend that has the strength where as it would be weak if just butted together and welded up.

Hope that makes sense.
