There is a bracket that fits between the block and motor mount plate. The only way would be to lift it up, un bolt the plate from the block and slide it in. That's why I was wondering if they were critical or not so much.
no motor lifting... You need to look @ it again. Mine went in after a 700r4 to sm465 conversion. Why would you need to lift your motor

So apparently I didn't read enough. He took his brace mounts off and didn't put them back In? My 88 with original 208 and my 91 with original 241 both had the brace mounts, never removed them. If that's what he did, put them back, no reason not to other than saying phuck it.
