How many of you that are 3/4 or 1 ton have busted 1/2 ton stuff?

I actually broke the axle tube in two pieces on the front 44. Then I went to Dana 70's with THICK tubes. I had braking problems though and swapped the front out for a 60. Now I recently broke an axle shaft in the rear 70. But I seriously doubt I broke it. I think there was something wrong with it already. I can't get it out to look at though, so I just put a 14 bolt in it's place.

Oh yeah, back when I only had 35's and a 12 bolt rear, I blew up the carrier once, and another time stripped the teeth off the pinion, several teeth off the ring gear, and broke the ring gear into two completely seperate pieces.

[/ QUOTE ]Let me elaborate... I broke the 10b on my stock Tahoe. I broke the front 10b on my Cheyenne (but I also had 39.5 boggers on an open diff)... etc etc /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

nope cant say ive ever broke any 1/2ton parts..... /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif of course i started out 3/4ton though

I broke my rear 10 bolt. Rebuilt it with parts I got for free. Now I have a 14 Bolt Semi-Floater. No full floater for me, I dont need any more places to get hung up on.

I started out with D44 w/260x ujoints and rear 12 bolt, both open, on 33" all terrains. I really didn't four wheel much so I didn't break anything. Then I went to 3/4 ton with D44 open front and D60 welded rear on slick 35s. I finally broke the spiders in the 44. Replaced them and wheeled for a while until I got 39" TSLs. Then while going through a deep mudhole full throttle, I broke the spiders, both front u-joints, and distorted the ears on all but one shaft so I had to torch the ears off to get them out. Also broke rear driveshaft and both u-joints and rear pinion yoke. Then I went to front D60 and broke 3 rear shafts. Then I went to 14FF rear w/Detroit and haven't broke axles since.

Just put it this way when me and Ken (whitewhomper) got to where we could change a 44 shaft in 23 minutes on the trail and be back wheeling I decided we were getting way way to much practice. That was with 35's. He would break 3-4 a season and I would get 4-5 mostly long side shafts. Only broke the Gov lock in the rear.

Problem is now I have started to break my 60 /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Must be something in the air /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
