the ugly truck approach works! my friend has a 1981 chevy 1/2 ton 2wd POS, and he left the keys in the door at his girlfriends apartment for 4 hrs and someone took em out of the door and put em on the seat where they'd be safe./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

How about you invest in a doubler set-up, and leave it in 4:1 low range, see how far they get before you notice...lol

I hardly lock my truck either, and right now the keys are in the ignition, but it is also on jackstands with no back tires. I was thinking of some kind of switch to cut the ignition, what would be an easy way of doing this?

On my last rig, I had an under dash toggle switch that I spliced in line on the ignition wire. I had the dang up there so far that even I had fumble around for it a few times. I also installed a full port ball valve on the fuel line back at the tank. I modified the handle on it so that when it said it was on, it was really off. That way it was a mechanical shut off, and when most people saw it (you really had to be looking for it to notice it though), they assumed it was on even though it was off.

You cant leave a line lock on over night, it will kill the selonoid, and will cause brake lines, calipers, or wheel cylinders to leak after a while.

Why not put a toggle switch on the neutral safety switch on the tranny who would look there?

I bought a toggle switch from radio shack for a buck. There is a wire that runs to the back of the fuse panel from the ignition switch it will be labeled "ignition" on the fuse block. Trace that wire back far enough away from the fuse block where you can splice in the toggle switch. It's a simple 2 position "on/off" switch. Make sure you splice it the right way though. Don't tape it together or it will start shorting out and causing you problems. Splice it and solder the connections, and cover them with heat shrink tube. At the very least, use sheilded spade connectors.

The ignition wire that I spliced into is a purple wire that runs inside a harness that comes from the inside of the cab to the motor. All I did was splice into that and put a push button switch on it. Every time I need to start the truck I have to push the HIDDEN button. At one point I had it under the carpet so all I had to do was place my foot in the right spot and it would start. I also have it set-up with a quick disconnect so when I do need to leave it at a shop I don't have to worry about getting a call telling me that they can't find the switch.

sry to reserect this thread but if my truck is oing to be sitting for awhile i disconnect the tierod.

and if im in my driveway or the girlfriends i have those motion lights and the pressure sensitive cords to open gates that are in the seems of the concrete park on them go inside flip the switch on if it moves off of it all hell breaks lose with siren lol.

Marine battery switch. It wont start if the battery is off! They are not that expensive. Just mount it where it cant be seen.

I remove the ECM fuse. It will turn over but not start. I have a kill switch partially installed.....One day I'll get around to finishing it.

yes or you could froogle it on froogle.com. They are very common. We use them in all our engines, ambulances, trucks etc....

1 Alarm,,Is good for me cus my truck is 15 feet in front of my apt`s kitchen window,and my liveing room in right behind that.So its super loud when it go`s off.

5) starter disconnect switch. ..JCW sells them with a removeable key.

6) brake pedal lock...They make them that go from the brake to the floor,very hard to cut off.

If its a standard , put a switch in the clutch saftey switch somewhere.So if you hit the switch on the dash it wont work when the clutch is pushed in.

I either saw on a car show or read in a mag..doesnt matter where lol,to use a switch that doesnt look like a "switch" ,like a wiper switch or cig lighter for a temp switch [I cant think of anything else] ,anything that would look normal for a ,fuel pump or coil wire cut off.

On a buddies toy we used a relay and the cig lighter to the fuel pump. When cig lighter was pused in the truck would start and run for 30 seconds, then die. Using any already existing switch works bes IMO. When I lived in a shady place I had a alarm, hidden kill switch, and you needed to turn headlights on to start it.
