How to remove trim, molding, and glass on a Suburban? Prepping for paint.

What the h3ll is a zj????

And how much do they cost?

If you have to ask................................................................

You can't afford it.:haha:

Beer Fest is one of my all time most "memorable" movie going experiences by the way... We managed to get 3 free 18 packs earlier in the day so we were already drunk by the time we got to he theater(my buddy's and I were like 19 at the time) so we into the movie hiding beers everywhere we could. Pockets, socks, pant legs, sleeves, etc. That ended up not being enough so one of the buddys and i devised a plan that i would go back out to the van and grab an entire 18 pack and sneak it in under my shirt... And i did and it looked like I had a fking 18 pack under my shirt! But I made it back to our seats and we proceeded to get extra toasty... To the point where I went to the bathroom just walking around with my beer in my hand. About 20min before the movie was over, I decided I wanted tacobell REAL bad. So i told my buddys I was walking home to get my truck! I'm not sure how many miles it is from home to the theater but i guess about 4. Told my buddy to give me 3 smokes. One for behind each ear and one to smoke ASAP. Well off I went! Truckin down the road like an Olympic speed walker! Stopped to take a leak a couple times. When the movie got out and my buddya were driving home in the van they were looking for me the whole time. Well they found me. About a mile from home and still just flat out power walking with one smoke left behind my ear. So i jumped in the van and they drove me the rest of the way home.

But wait there's more!

It occurred to me upon reaching my truck that I was in no shape to drive. Fortunately, my buddy Scott(pinsco63) decided he was good to drive and would drive me to taco bell in my truck. So we jump in and head out. I'm all wriled up and he is driving like a normal person but that didn't sound like fun to me. I told him, punch it man! Hit the gas! Well just when I was sure he wouldn't, he nailed it going around a corner. I then proceeded to fly across the bench seat as i didn't have my seatbelt on, only to punch him right in the face! I tried to apologize while simultaneously trying to breath cause i was laughing so hard. So we get to taco bell. I'm sluring my speech to all get out and only the drive through is open. Scott decides there is no way he is going to try to relay my message to the person. So he did what any good Christian would. He BACKED through the drive through so that i may give Yeh order directly! It was everything I could do to hold myself together as i placed the order... Imagine the cashier ladys surprise when she sees a suburban coming up to the window ass first only for me to be the one she has to handle the transaction with. All the while, Scott over there playing it cool like nothing out of the ordinary is going on. That was equally challenging to deal with and maintain my composure... I'm like, dude! We are both all the way ****ed up, I just punched you in the face, and now you just backed us through a ducking drive through! So i get the food and that's the last I remember... Kinda seems like i puked that night. I do know that i would have chosen death over life the next morning as i had to be to work at 8 in the am...

Man, I thought I was the only guy who had done that before.
Only once at a drive-through eatery that I can remember, but about every other week for a couple of months on a job, so the guy in the other seat could get some lunch money from the drive up teller at the bank.

She got used to seeing us coming. The fun one was when we were not the only car. I would get in line facing backwards.
That was OK, until another car pulled in. Now we are sitting there staring at the other driver.
I actually had one guy back up and drive off he was so uncomfortable........

And this is why we don't buy Taiwan fenders.

Wow..that's lousy...look at those tiny welds
how long did it take to get in that condition?

Geesh good question. Well, i know this fender was installed in something like 94? But i dont know how long its been bad. I have noticed the broken spot welds since i got it from my dad in 03. So whatever that tells you...

Everybody complains that the Olympic uniforms are made in China...nobody is concerned about the car parts...man, I hope there is an industrial revival in this nation...

ain't gonna happen... china/asia is the america of the 50's and 60's...

Just got a call from maaco. They are saying probably Monday or Tuesday. Kinda what i figured. When they said 7-10 days, i figured 10-14.

Does that include dry time?

My assumption is that it is good to go with the exception of having to wait the 30 days or whatever before it could be buffed. But i dunno. The way i understand it is that it will be 100% done in the 7-10 days. I figure if its ready for me to drive off the lot its dry! :haha:

I drove by that Maaco last night - your Sub is straight out from their shop doors - and by just a quick drive by, doesn't look like it has been touched yet - but I only could see the top half of the drivers side from Division/Burnside.

I thought seriously about taking a pic and photo-shopping some pink paint on it to post here!

LOL that would have been pretty funny. Yea i figure probably all they have done so far I'd anything is fixed that quarter. I have a feeling they won't make it by Tuesday. One part of me understands that the burb is a low profit margin compared to other jobs but at the same time, you gotta give the customer what you say you will. I plan on calling them today and letting them know i need it done by Wednesday and see what they say. Either way, As much as i hoped it would be done asap, realistically, when they said 7-10 days and i figured 10-14 when they said that cause momma didnt raise no fool, 14 working days would put it complete not this monday but next monday. So as long as they get it done by then i will technically be satisfied!

So i went down to check on the truck today. As i expected, they havent touched it which does suck. On the flip side, it has made the garage available while i wax on the 77. So two sides to everything. I talked to the actual owner of that maaco today. He gave me some excuses. He said, we had hired a guy that was due to start last week and he never showed up. He said, the whole thing has put us a week behinde and we are getting more behinde everyday as we are getting flooded with jobs right now and would have been sgort handed even if the guy we hired did show up. He went on to say, The two issues compounded is really putting me in a bit of a panic and we are trying to get two more guys in here to help out, we just arent sure when we can get them. With that, i told him that its not a huge deal and just to make sure he was being honest with everyone and telling them the truth about timelines and such. With that, i asked him what his realistic thoughts are on where i was in line. He said, Honeslty, probably it would be tuesday by the time we can touch it and next tuesday by the time you get it. I told him thats fine, i just wanted to make sure that i wasnt being cut in line or being back burnered. He assured me that im the next big job in line. So, i have mixed emotions on it. If the excuses are true, i dont really mind and really, as long as its gone the better off i am really. Its just that my baby is away and i miss it.On a side note, they had a toyota there that they had just gotten done painting that is all but a dead ringer for my paint with the same paint package i got. That thing looked amazing! Down right pretty! Phenomenal even! I said, if my truck turns out like this and is done when you say it will be, i will be a happy camper.

Yea those turkeys are saying maybe I'll have it Saturday. At this point, I'll get it when I get it.
