How to remove trim, molding, and glass on a Suburban? Prepping for paint.

oh, I'm f*ckin old, no question... dinosauric! :woot: :doah::whistle::haha:

the skating/hotrods have always kinda kept me young at heart.. but slamming in the deepend for yrs has the body giving up the ghost! :haha:

royen
Don't you just love the way the mind tells you to go for you can do it. Then the body says what a dumb f**k.:eek1::eek1:

I'm a skater, that's synonymous... :haha:

for a long, long time I was the most stubborn f*ck when it came to skating... some can probably imagine the grief I've caught from a large portion of society/family for riding a kids toy on ramps and such at 40...

until just this yr, my mom thought I had retired from vert skating in my late 20's.. she about had a cow when she heard I had been skating a 24' fullpipe at 43..... :haha: and truly retired at 45...

I don't know about you, but my body reminds me first thing in the morning just how things are gonna be all day....and when you deviate, then it reminds you all night....:doah:

Stopped by and checked out progress today.

And this truck is just now done. It looks awesome in person! Same colors as my 78. They did everything to this truck. The owner drove it in as daily driver and they took all the molding, trim, weather strip, seats, carpet, glass etc out, painted it, then completely reassembled it. Impressive that they can pull that kind of a job off but im sure its part of what held my truck up from getting done...

I didn't know you were getting an all over paint job? That pickup looks great...I am sure yours will too.

Before or after getting pissed off cause things ain't going right :D. Both ways differ greatly :haha:One way will cosy you a great deal more as well but both WILL get the trim, glass out and off the burb. :thumb:

Did you just think i was getting the roof done or something?

yeah...for some reason that what I thought they were doing....and the price...you getting bodywork and paint done for $1500

LOL silly. I wouldn't have pulled the glass and bumpers if I was just doing the roof! And I sure as **** wouldn't pay $1500 for just that! Yes, it's $1550 for body work, sealer, prime, base, clear. If I wouldn't have had any body work it would have been $899.

Just reviewing my pics. Geesh they suck... Oh well. With any luck, i'll get to just take some completed pics next week...

They don't suck....I can't believe they let you into the work area to see it though...the typical line is "our insurance prohibits customers from entering the shop area...just liability stuff...you understand"...

So they have had it 4 and 1/2 weeks and only got some body work done.

Don't feel bad It took my buddy about 5 years to do mine.

I know. I wouldn't have been surprised if they said no, but that was one of the questions I asked when I was first looking into using them. I asked if I would be able to check in and take pics of the process and they said yes. Knowing what I know now, I think I would have had a lot better experience going to the one in Vancouver Washington. That one has been around for a lot longer than this one. This one seems like they are still kinda figuring out how to run a stable operation.

It does always suck when someone take in your vehicle and then doesn't work on it like they say, (happened to me with the wiring on mine).
If it looks as good as the old pickup you should be happy with it.
Hope to see you get it back next week.
Waiting to see how it turns out.

Me too! And it is close enough that i can taste it! Its needed paint and body work for over a decade and now its to the point of being within a few days of being completed! It makes these last few days feel about as long as the past decade of waiting. Its driving me nuts knowing that its so close. Looking at the body work up close it all looks like it should come out smooth. No deep scratches and everything seems feathered nicely. We'll see. Im just curious now to see how long it takes from this point...
