How to remove trim, molding, and glass on a Suburban? Prepping for paint.

It is. And this round is really all about just making it presentable. And taking the trashyness away that it had aquiered from being back burnered for so long. After i get a shop then i will do a build similar to yours.

How much overspray did they get on your underhood stuff???

I will be pissed if they get it on my newly painted underhood and engine..:doah:

I cant say "none" But it was virtually none. They are good at lifting the hood a tad and masking. There is a touch of overspary here and there, but its what I would consider within acceptable limits and comes off with a sponge. If you stress to them that its an issue, im sure they will be more careful.

I don't think you use sealant on the windshield, isn't that what the gaskets for:dunno:. As long as your prepped, which you are with the new paint you should be good to go.

There is sealant on the windshield.

I'd call one of those mobile glass companies to come and install it for you.

I have never used sealant on a windshield in one of these trucks.

When I pulled the windshield out initially, there was sealantof asome kind. When I re installed it, Iddidn't use sealant and it was leaking. The problem is my Window frame, the pinch weld area is really wavy in a lot of spots.

generally, sealant isn't used on these rig's with locking weatherstripping... but putting urethane sealant on the metal pinchweld isn't a bad idea..

that said, I would not recommend putting it in the glass to rubber joint..

No i think the glass to rubber is fine. Its just the wavyness that i think is causing the rubber not to seal against the frame. The stuff that was in there was still "mushy". It was black and like a thick tar.

Well I did something today. Although not directly aimed at the burb. I got one of my wheels painted white! They are going to look soo good on the 78 and it will be nice to have this thing backon the aaluminum wheels.

I was just thinking that today as I was bolting that wheel back up. Man white wheels just look good! Send me a PM if you want anything for them or at least cover your shipping cost.
