Howdiymobile....

I found a D60 posi and 4.88 gears

I just gotta make sure that they are the right gears and also make sure I'm allowed to use them. I'm 99% sure they are the right gears, just gotta see if I'm allowed to use them now. I need to make sure that the posi is 35 spline also.

Should save me about 300 dollars.

I just need to get a 14 bolt thick gear, which is not bad.

That won't get you very far in TTC

Agreed...

I must ask, Howdiy...

Do you build your stuff to actually use it, or just for the fun of building stuff? That's not a judgemental question, BTW... I come from a long line of people who enjoy the hunt more than the kill...

I'm not able to go to TTC challenge either way, I get surgery Thursday on my shoulder and will still be doing physical therapy when TTC rolls around.

I think you've got that right :D, and honestly I'm looking forward to the hunt again.

I just don't think my truck is very practical, The closest trails are 500 miles away. And I'm not really that much of a fan of mud unless I had something I built for that.

This vid also got my mind going again

I'm not really sure if I need to sell my truck yet either though.

Man I'm the same way about this stuff myself.

I bought a 2001 XJ w 26K miles on it, loaded it up with a Ford 8.8 rear and a D44 front, all locked, a Rubicon long arm kit, stroker kit on the 4.0L, etc etc.

I sold that Jeep a year after I bought it at a 6K loss and never took it offroad once. After that I bought a '90 Mercedes. I just wanted to learn to work on German DOHC engines. Had that for a year, got hit, paid, moved on.

I'm back on my Blazer, but that's exactly why I focus on making mine as close to stock as possible aside from the engine; it'll keep me from abandoning it here in the near future.

I was going to vote for you until you said you wouldn't be able to go anyway. I didn't figure you'd make it because you don't have 49s or 54s, but I always vote for all the old Chevys and GMCs.

Yeah, I'm still recovering from the surgery.

Next year I should hopefully have something TTC worthy.

Looking forward to it. You'll get my vote. I would love to see a good ol' Chevy put a spanking on all those high dollar dudes in their $100,000 tube buggies that look like Jeep TJs.

454 or 496

I'm not really sure how crazy it will get though

Gotta find out costs first. It looks like a rebuild stroker kit that uses stock rods is around 1k. And then for new bolts and rod recondition it's around 170.

Then I still need heads intake and carb.

If I go that route it would be pushing 600hp.

Or else I can just do the 454 as cheap as possible and hope for 500. Which is probably the route I'll have to take.
