HUMMV bodies for Blazer frames

Since we're talking about rust, check out these pics and how bad the rust is on this 1990 K5 I just bought for parts: (notice the wood holding the seat up and how the floor buckled in front of the pedals)

You can't even close the doors since the body has collapsed in the middle! Poor K5... :(

The rear floor is trashed too. Body mounts have gone totally through.

I had a '76 Blazer, and once I locked the keys in the truck and had my little brother crawl up through the hole in the rear driver's side to unlock the door! Then when I finally took it apart for parts, when I removed the fiberglass roof, the passenger bed-side fell off! The gas tank once fell off it driving over railroad tracks because the very last cross member on the frame rusted completely off! It was the most awesome truck ever, I beat it to death before finally disassembling it. The tradeoff was that the drivetrain was in great shape. I put them in another truck that has had another 100,000 miles on it since the 180,000 on the original. Gotta love the bowtie.

No body is worth what those Tatonka kits cost IMO... truck bodies get beat on, only a matter of time before the pretty fiberglass got destroyed. They look cool on a mall crawler or as a rolling advertisement though.

BTW, I thought that GM bought out Tatonka's interest in building hummer body kits? You guys make it sound like they hounded them out of the industry... the guy probably got paid.

Well I am heading to Denver, Colorado this monday now. When I get there I will be on the look out for a good Blazer tub that is possible to drive home. Also going keep my eye out for rigs with CK5 stickers on them. I will be there until Dec 20th so I might run into someone.

Did you find that thing at the bottom of the ocean or something? It's a freakin' '90! How did that much rust find it's way into a '90?
