Well I had stole the idea from Pirate a few months ago;) Not sure if the parts you have listed are the exact same. But I recoginized the ram for sure. Now if I only had it mounted.

The hydro parts came from surpluscenter.com

2 9-1503-4-4 1503-4-4 1/4" 45 SWIVEL 5.90
3 916-1436 1/4" X 36" 1/4 NPTM X 1/I HYD HOSE 22.05
1 9-6645 1.5X8X1 DA HYD CYL 49.95
2 9-6405-4-4 6405-4-4 SAE4,7/16-20 TOTER 4.38
2 9-1501-4-4 1501-4-4 1/4" M/F R.A. S 3.90

Total $: 86.18

Same ram and almost the same total price. My total was $87.93. I stole the idea from Pirate too. :wink1:

They will work fine, but as it is, the lines coming off the ram will have to be pointing to the front or to the rear of the truck. Most people like to thave them pointing up to keep them alittle more protected. All ya have to do is cut the tube off the fixed end of the ram and weld it back on 90* from where it was.;)

There is a larger difference in the push/pull specs between the two rams- The 1" ram- Push/Pull 5290/2940 lbs. The .75 ram- Push/Pull 3,350/2,650 lbs. The steering force with .75 ram would be closer to equal both left and right...But the 1" ram has a higher rating all the way around. It'll be quite a bit stronger 1 way than the other vs the .75 ram, but still stronger than the .75 ram in both directions.

As far as speed, the one 1" I ordred might be slower than the .75" ram, but should still be faster than the 2" rams, most of which have 1.125" rods.

That is incorrect. The reason they have a higher stated force rating is because the larger shaft ram is rated for more pressure, 3kpsi vs. 2kpsi. Therefor the rating on the 1" rod ram is given at 3kpsi whereas the rating on the .75" rod ram is given at 2kpsi.

At the same pressure the ram you ordered, with the 1" rod, will exert less pressure than the one with the .75" shaft due to the smaller surface area on the rod side of the piston. The non piston side will be equal in force to the .75" rod ram.

In other words, the ram you ordered will have a larger force differential between left and right and be weaker when contracting than the ram with a .75" rod.

Also as far as speed, your 1" ram will be faster when contracting than the .75" ram, not slower. The speed will be the same when extending though.

Sigh....

Like I said on the other board...where were ya when I asked this stuff ealier?

so it really doesnt matter than operation wise...just to keep the thing safe? sounds easy enough, i just dont trust my welding abilitys yet... also i am running an lt1 so i have a type 2 pump. anyone used hydraulic assist with this type of pump? i know the resivoir will be easy enough because its remote so i can make it as big as i want, but ive had problems with these pumps crapping out before ans was just wondering what it would be like with assist. final hijack question... would it be better if you went with a assist specific ram? meaning if you werent to concerned about cash is it really that much better?
