That sucks, he could easily have got it to shift to second then drop it down! On the evap the main "leak" area is the fuel pump gasket. The OEM rubber o-ring is actually thicker than all the aftermarket o-rings. In order for them to seal for smog in cali, use thick grease on the o-ring when you install it, or you can use silicon but its a pita to get off.

I installed a new pump and sending unit last yr. the O ring is thick! That's why it won't seal. Its the thickest O ring I have ever seen. When I took it off yesterday one of the three locking tongs was not seated. I took the O ring to a few auto parts stores trying to compare it with ones they had. No one had any. I will try the grease. Thanks for the tip.
Now I need to reinstall the tank and take off the TBI spacer. I have to be at a huge save the trails rally this weekend!
