I finally got the Buick!

1971 Buick GS455 Stage1
I have been given quite a few vehicles.
But obviously nothing like that!

Why did they pick you? Did you know them or know someone that did?

Or just out of the blue… there has to be a story?
I've known them for maybe 5 years, and I knew he had a 71 GS. I DIDNT know it was a 455 Stage1, that he bought brand new! His wife mentioned a month ago that they were going to get rid of their Buicks. During the conversation, she mentioned they were going to GIVE away the 71 GS. She wanted to know if I would like it, since I like Buicks! I couldn't say yes fast enough!
At this point, I still didn't know it was even a 455 car, or let alone a Stage1 car.

Was looking in the trunk to see what parts were in there. Happened to look up at the bottom of the package tray and saw a piece of old paper showing through the hole. Pulled the rear seat and side panels. Pulled the vinyl away from the glue. Pulled the padding away from the metal, and was able to remove the build sheet without destroying it. 20260810_180240.jpg20260810_182944.jpg20260810_182957.jpg20260810_185305.jpg20260810_185051.jpg

Realized that the corner with the vin# was still missing.
Retrieved the missing part, and got it taped back together!View attachment 534322
510 FT LBS of tire melting torque! "On paper, the Chevelle's 450 hp should have dominated. However, vintage and modern Pure Stock muscle car drag races routinely show the Buick Stage 1 winning or matching the LS6. The Buick's massive low-end torque combined with its lighter weight allowed it to hook up and pull ahead before the Chevelle's high-RPM power could catch up"

Buicks dont F around.
