I found a Survivor! New truck! **PICTURES ADDED**

Here is a good shot of the wheels I'm looking for. I deploy again next week so I have time to shop. These ones are nice but the trim rings are ****ed up.

This is silly to me, I can't even count the number of rally wheels I junked in my day....I saved a set of nice ones, if I ever found something like this truck, but mostly I see them as useless 1/2 ton junk.
I would never buy a set, if this was my ride I would buy some nice chrome or aluminum rims and wait til I stumbled on some. Where I am from you pretty much can get them for free from chevy guys. I do think the truck needs something other then what she rolls on. Their are a lot of aftermarket wheels out there that match the time period of our trucks. IMO.

Yeah I don't hate the current wheels that are on it, but they aren't in good shape and they are just too modern for the truck IMO. Being that the truck is all original I think a set of Rallys will fit it well, or a set of GM white spokes.

I thought these were polished, but they are chromed aluminum.

I agree. The rallys would be nice. Those wheels could be worse. It just needs some period correctness.

I disagree.

There are a few sets of wheels that match the time period of these trucks. And they were options from factory :popcorn:

Only aftermarket rim I would consider is an outlaw or outlaw 2.

love those rims and they would be time correct.

I vote for rallys with beauty rings though

The rallies would look very good on there. I like stock wheels because you can't find aftermarket that are hub-centric. If GM thought the lugs could carry the truck they wouldn't have designed hub-centric wheels for them.

This.

99.9% of aftermarket wheels are terrible.

Martin
I guess I like that 00.1% then:D

Are those different that what is already on there???

Martin

Yes.

I am not an engineer but I was taught that a hubcentric wheels locate the wheel on center. Hubcentric is for balance purposes. They have no structural application. The friction from the hub to wheel contact with properly torqued lugs in enormous. I heard one time upward of 30 tons of clamping force. It's way beyond any load your truck will ever see. This is why you see the hubcentric rings being sold with the aftermarket rims, made of plastic.

For whats it worth, I have never had a set of hubcentric wheels or rings,
I had 370,xxx miles on my old half ton chevy when I traded it off. Ran some sort of aftermarket wheel on that old girl the whole time I had it. She went threw hell, from the snowplow up front, to loads of rocks in the back, and pulling wagons on the farm. Can't say I ever had a problem with a lug, nut, hub, or wheel.
So even if I am wrong about the hubcentric thing, thats fine. Lugcentric has been fine for me!:waytogo:

The only aftermarket wheels I would consider for this truck would be Weld Super Single IIs or something very similar and I don't think they even made them in a 15" wheel. Some of the typical 8 hole aluminum wheels are ok like the MT Classics or the MT Challenger which they don't make anymore either.

I'm going to source Rallys first and then a set of GM white spokes.

Can't go wrong with them 2 choices :waytogo:

Yep I love the factory rally's best as well. I took off the aluminum ones and put 80s rally's on my 94 blazer for that reason. Nice truck. Real clean. Don't see a lot of those in that kind of original shape anymore.
