I got my custom TPI conversion done-update- distributorless ignition

Great write up, I used a FAST comp, with crank and cam sensors, my problem is mounting air temperature sensor, you have given me great ideas for mounting that sensor, just have source out the firebird stuff

Thanks for the info on the cruise control, didn't think that would work as the throttle spring was very stiff

In what may be my final installment of ignition system changes, I finally converted my SBC back to using a set of plug wires for SBC. Weird to think that was ever hard . Basically it was a swap from Ford EDIS coils to a pair of Dodge Neon coils. Yeah, I know, but the box only says "Delphi" on it, so it's all good. These coils fulfill the criteria of having similar resistance and inductance as the Ford ones and they have towers that accept regular plug wires. I soldered wires into the connector terminals and put pigtail EDIS connectors on them so I didn't have to modify any of the wiring already in the truck. There are various ways to do this and I did look around for some Neon connectors, but decided this gave me a super simple backtrack if any issues came up with these coils. Looks like that was 1.5 years ago.

I can't believe it's been over 10 years since you updated this thread...

The ‘ol Megasquirt stuff has come a long way hasn’t it. I remember building the b&g ms1 when it was first starting out. Extra code was so cool. I’m running a ms2 with 36-1 crank trigger on mine but still distributor for spark distribution though. I’ve thought about building a ms3 and trying full sequential but I never have.
