I got the tires.*HMMWV wheel question post 96*

I like comp cut boggers for what I do (mud, mud, mud) cut out the small lugs on the outside.

Dang man I did not know SS discontinued bigger then 35" Boggers... I always wanted a set...

Yea you and many others love the Boggers. Maybe one of these days I'll get sum..

No i didnt just mean boggers.... Ss sold off a ton of thier molds to a foreign company and they are failing to meet production demands for 35" and under tires in almost every style.

First of all, I live in south Mississippi I haven't seen snow since 2009 when I was in Afghanistan, and the time before that Iwas between 1986 and 1990, when I lived in Virginia, and I don't remember that.

I would never get boggers. My truck is not trailered anywhere, and I can't imagine driving for extended periods of time on a set of boggers.

You run them on the street? How do they wear and what kind of life could someone expect out of them?

No I dont run them on the street because they are stickies.
My 2 buddies run the street versions on their jeeps and they seem to be pretty happy with them.

Ok, here's some more pictures with a nickel in the tread. To me it looks like about half the nickel is in there and half a nickel is 15/32". iirc new they only have 22/32" tread. So looking at the nickel and the wear indicators how much life would yall say are left in these tires. Also, would you pay $400 for them?

Also, he says there are no patches or plugs and all the lugs are still there. I'm going to go check them out tomorrow, so hopefully I don't waste a day and a tank of fuel.

So... how bout dem tires?

I picked them up. They have some cuts in the sidewall, but I don't think they are too deep. I'm waiting to hear back from a vendor on pirate to see what they'll quote me for pressed centers. I see some fender trimming in my near future...

Sweet! That thing is going to look good!

I'm glad they worked out for you. Those things are big!

I sure hope they look good on it! Hopefully by the time we do another meet and greet they are on the truck, but I probably won't drive it if it's in Mobile.
I might need some better pictures of how you cut your fenders with some measurements, I like the way you'rs turned out.

Yes, they are big! Although when I picked them up my wife said, "those look like they are the same size as what's on the truck now..." "Ok babe..." Haha :haha:

Now I'm looking at doing the hmmwv wheels and saw some "centering washers" for the outer ring to center it up on the wheel. The company says that there is no way to balance the wheels without them and there is no way to get above 30mph without them.

I don't remember seeing them on the wheels I have, and while I was in the Navy I never remember seeing them on the wheels, we drove the hmmwv's with the 8 bolt wheels and 12 bolt wheels and I have personally had one at 65mph with no issues.

Anyone heard of this?

Whatever you need, just let me know. :thumb:

I've never heard of any centering washers either. My 8 bolt H1's were unmodified and did not have any special hardware. I never had it up to 65 but did run around a few times at about 45 and never had a problem (unbalanced too).

Decided not to re-center them and just run spacers. 1 of the tires needs a patch but so far the other 3 are good. Should look pretty good if you ask me. Just need the spacers now.

Oh, nvrenuf, if you still have them and want to get rid of them, I might need those cut down mag runflats or I'll get some PVC inserts. Just let me know

arent you gonna have to run a huge spacer to clear those wheels? like 3-4"?

I should be able to get away with 2" spacers. With a 2" spacer it should put my at 5" of backspace. I'm pretty sure H2 wheels have 5.5" backspace and that's what's on the truck now.

If I remember right Ronnie4wd is running 1.5" spacers and was running a 15x38x16.5 Bogger with no problem and now is running a 42" irok with no problems

Just checked, it is Ronnie4wd that's running 1.5" spacers with no problem.
