I have a K5!

:D

(No, I'm not going 8 lug, they just came with the tires.)

They certainly look like they'll fill the wheel wells.:thumb: Can't wait to see it in paint too!

Yeah, it will definitely fit them. Interested to see how much wider the 305's will be. I just picked up two 285's as a package deal. 75% tread and the same type of tire as I want to get. Going to try and sell one tire and the two 16x10 8 lug wheels. Have no use for them. Maybe make some money back.

As these sit they're most of 2" taller than the 265's I have on there now...with less tread %.

AJM, you're the second one to know this here, but I traded my F250 for an 06 Tacoma TRD Sport. Had to sell the Blazer (cheap) as a down payment. (it certainly hurt a bit) .

Anyhow, I have 285/70 17's on the Toy with a 3" ToyTec lift. Coilovers and OME Dakar rear leaves. The 285's measure out to 32.8" x 11.4". I believe the 305's are closer to a 33 x12, on a 16" rim. It should look pretty sweet.

Maybe someone here will see my Blazer again. I sold it to a friend for 3g's OUCH, but it's what I needed to get my payments where they were managable. Between the ford and Blazer I was paying somewhere in the range of 450 a month for gas. It put me behind in my bills a month in just under a year. Now I'm getting 17mpg on a bad day letting the toy idle 20 min. every morning. Hoping on 20 (or happy with 18+) in the summer.

I don't mean to hijack, but I gotta show at least one pic. OK two:D

Nice man. TRD too. That rear locker will spoil you. I was considering a Tacoma before the Tracker but decided on the 4 doors and proper rear seat of the Tracker. Sometimes I wish I had the bed though. Tacomas are good stuff.

I know a thing or three about making hard vehicular decisions. Besides, now you can pick up a stocker later on and start over. Nice rust free SW truck and then a road trip...

THAT, would be the plan. Next Blazer will be kept mild. Shackle flip and 33's. Unfortunately, it will be a few years, unless and unknown relative with lots of cash leaves me a bundle. My finances are a mess right now. It's all I can do to pay for heat right now. That's costing me over 600 for LP, not to mention the 2.5 face cords a month.

Oh well, now I'm paying for my decisions:whistle:

Oh, the TRD is a Sport, not the Off Road, so it has a mechanical LSD, not the locker. So far it has been an excellent snow and road vehicle. The last mod will be a selectable locker for the front. It'll probably be an ARB so I can justify OBA. Again, it'll be a couple years for that to happen. Hopefully the winch will help me out on the trail. After all, it is just a mild trail truck and DD...:D!

Huh, didn't know they changed the TRD package. Used to be TRD = the offroad goodies. Still, it's a stout truck to start with.

How do you like that 4.0L?

Bills suck. Winter sucks. Move south. Raining cats and dogs here now but no snow.

The 4.0 is kinda snotty. Even with the "33's" it moves right along. The mileage could be better, but I'm not complaining. With 3.73 gears, I'm turning about 2300-2400 at 65. At 75 or so, just a hair over 2500. Not too bad. It has good passing power, but you gotta keep downshifting. Just driving along, 6th is good at 40mph. and up. Long grades I'm in 5th most of the time. If you don't get a running start, you might need 4th. Toyota's 6th in the 6-speed is only .85 to 1, where the auto is your normal .72. They are the only one I know of that the auto get better mileage than the standard. My understanding is it's due to towing capacities or something:dunno:.

I would love to live in the south or at least more south. I lived in Winchester Va. for a couple years building the HS sports complex there. My profession is HVAC, mostly heating, so it might hurt me financially though.

Had rain all day yesterday, 40's today, 30's and snow tomorrow, gotta love NY. (western, southern tier...not the city!)

Good to hear. I liked the 3.4L's that I drove but they seemed a bit more whiz than grunt.
Is 5th gear an OD too or just 6th gear? I know some of the car 6 speed manuals are that way now.

Lots of use for heat down here. Gets cold in the winter...just not as bad as up north. Also gets stupid hot in the summer so again...lots of HVAC work going on.

40's and 50's all the rest of the week. Hopefully the rain stops and I can at least stay dry above my feet at work.

I'm pretty sure both are overdrives, but I don't know the ratio. I know my 01 WS6 was in the 5000rpm range in 5th gear in the low 150's. Only went there twice. The second time, I quit drinking and sold the car, that was almost 5 years ago. Both 5th and 6th were overdrives in that.

I had heat exhaustion in my early 20's. Now I have a hard time regulating the heat, but cold doesn't bother me much, I just dress for it.

I like where I live, not too many natural disasters (hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes...), I'm at the top of the food chain (no africanized bees, poisonous snakes or spiders) just the rare big cat and some smaller black bears. I think I'll stay here. Though I do have a brother-in -law in Fort Collins that I'd love to visit, but I don't think I'd come home.

I'll say it again, I like where I live.

Oh, my WS6.

Looks like a lot of trouble right there. I won't own cars for a reason. Even a FWD 4 cyl makes me want to see how fast it'll spin.

I knew people who lived in the UP of Michigan and thought it was heaven on earth. It's beautiful sure but DAMN Alaskan and Canadian quality winters mixed with super remoteness and a high cost of living. No thanks. To each their own though.

I just found your thread, what did you make your side panels out of, how have they held up, and what would you do differently now? I really like your idea, and I'm getting ready to line my interior soon. My panels are in ok shape but the vinyl covering is starting o crack in the very back o the cargo area.

Luan (sp?) plywood. Got it at home depot after talking with one of the lumber guys there. Easy to cut and one sheet was all I needed. Had the guy line it all around and then just drilled and screwed it to the wall. Used some stainless steel self tapping screws for a slightly industrial look and also ease of removal.

Only thing I'd do different was measure better. I was in a late night, lack of sleep rush and measured wrong. A few dimensions aren't right.
Still need to figure out some insulation behind it. Would like to deaden the sound and insulate it a bit more.

I used to have one of those old school egg-crate foam pads from the bed that I was gonna try using if I ever get around to making my side panels. Not sure how that foam would hold up over time though...

That's my one issue. Considering some fatmat or something like it. Heard some of the roof insulation stuff works as well. I mean...it's already Rhino Lined so I could just stick it to the backside of the panel and the actual body itself...

Got them today but never even took pictures. Too busy balancing Jagged's tires. Get some tomorrow.

Everything fits under the fenders...just...and gives it just enough of a beefier look. Also they seem to clear the fenders JUST right. Need to flex it on something to see.
