I have a K5!

Yep. First time since 2002. Actually...mental math...I sold the '92 just over 7 years ago.

Well, it is now official... I paid the second half of the cash and picked up the K5 and title today. It did well driving down the freeway as well.

Nice! Similar deal to the one I plan on buying from my uncle in August. Its an almost completely stock 84 diesel. The only thing not stock is the front seats and 31s. Its black and white two tone. Let me know what kind of gas mileage you get out of it. My uncle claims 25 highway but he's the slowest driving person I've ever met.

Nice. Came stock with 235/75R15's or something?
Which makes me wonder...hey kenny, does the doorjam sticker say what size tires it came stock with?

I've seen several folks on here mention their stockish, 4x4, diesel K5's with the 700R4 get well into the 20's on the highway.

It depends if your foot is made of lead or flesh :D
Diesels don't like high RPM's, that would make the difference between 20 and 25 MPG.
Typically with a stock truck you could get the 25 at 55mph, the faster you go the closer you get to the 20.

Depends then. Around here if you are doing 65 people run you off the freeway. 70 is the limit and while I stick close to it most folks still buzz by you.

I could see hitting 20mpg. Since with my M1008, with 33s and 4.56s... I get about 14mpg. I think I could get better if I slowed down a little bit more.

Yeah. Big Ugly can do 70 but I just don't like spinning it that fast for long periods of time. Luckily I've come to figure out that taking M37 at 55mph the whole way to my parents' house just south of Grand Rapids is about a half an hour longer than using the freeway. You also get to see a lot of neat "2 lane backroad Americana".
Hell, when I drive it to Kentucky I plan on taking 55mph roads the whole way.

I'm not sure what size tires it came with. My uncle said he just put a nice set of Cooper somethings on them and said they were 31s. He also said going 65 all highway he got ~25mpg.

He also said that the 6.2 was fast. I dont think I have ever heard anyone say that before. :haha:

Its going to be my DD and the wife is going to drive the Mazda. I dont think driving the orange one (its gonna need a name) daily is a good option. 9mpg kinda hurts. :D

Gears make a lot of things faster. Might have 3.73 gears or something. Hoping for those in mine.

My '90 6.2 K5 came from the factory with 3.73's and 235/75R15's (per the door sticker), but had 32x11.50's muds installed when I bought it with 49k on the clock.

With a very heavy foot (teenager) and mostly city or back roads driving I consistently got in the high teens.

As far as being considered "fast", guess it's all in perspective. An older guy down the street from where I grew up had a mid-80's K5 with the emissions choked and carbed 305 and 3.08 gears and he thought mine with a 6.2 was substantially peppier.

He has an early 90s 4-Runner thats kinda beat up and has over 300k on it. I dont know why he wants to drive it instead of the K5. He has had 2 other nice Blazers over the past few years but loves that damn 4-Runner. :dunno:

I should loan him the keys to my Blazer for a few minutes after I put in the 4.56s just to see how fast he thinks that is.:D

Thanks.

Finally joining the 89-91 club after lusting after mom and dad's neighbors' 89, the other neighbors' 91, and the WT package '90 in town while I was in HS.

Welcome back to the club man!
