I just got the new ones in today and compared the two. I think I like the new thinner ones but not a 100% sure just because it shows a little bit of a gap between the ring and the wheel.

My dad bought the thin ones like that for his 82 low rider. He bought them new from GM. They were OEM for a van.

I wouldn't spend the money to send them back. They look good!
At least wait until you have the tires mounted to make your final decision.
