I swear! it wasnt my intention to buy any more trucks honestly, but alas this deal fell into my lap and i couldnt say no. Guy got divorced and sold his truck to me for 1k. At this point im saying i bought the truck for the rear window sticker:D

Ok so i kinda lied, i fell in love with this truck at first sight :woot:

Cant believe i forgot the specs... The truck is a 66 C-10 2wd. It has a newer rebuilt .030 over 350 less than 1k miles on the motor, its rattle canned primer cherry bomb exhaust and has a almost new clutch. I need to get the tranny rebuilt. 2nd gear is weird and i dont know too much about it yet to explain it good enough to be understood.

Rodney Carrington rocks.:saweet:Oh, nice truck, too. Which trans does it have in it? I had a couple mid-60s Chevy trucks with the 3sp semi-synchro, and I would not recommend rebuilding it if that's what you have. I replaced one of my semi-syncs with a later full-synchro 3 sp ($125 @ wrecking yard already removed and inspected) and was much happier with it. All it took was to have the d-shaft shortened a little, since it used the same clutch and bellhousing.:D
Edit: Nevermind, I just saw your sig line says sm420.:o

Ill check with my tranny guy on the 420 tomarrow, if nothing else i have a 3/4 ton sm465 that i can drop in. Man im trying not convince myself to not lift it, least till i can get some other trucks working/running/driveable, but the thought has crossed my mind :D

How about a prerunner instead?! Come on, you just don't see that every day, besides it already has those 4ft trailing arms out back, right?:D
I'd still do a convert to 4x.

I've heard and read those trailing arms are not the strongest. Being a two-piece stamped steel design, I've heard of them coming apart between the seams. Some "fixes" I've seen to them were welding beads joining the two together, on top and bottom but every so many inches apart to prevent warpage.

If it were me, I'd convert it to 4x to fit 35's and make it a daily driver, unless the fuel prices were to take into factor. Just slap on some custom made brackets from Kert and a set of 1/2 or 3/4 ton axles along with some 35" radial tires, you'd have a pretty sharp and decent looking truck.

I'd just put some GM rallies on it and call it good the way it sits now.

x2!

Well ive given it some thought and before i decide on what to do with '66 I want to convert my 62 to a 4x4. It's basically the same but with different style headlights, and it needs alot of work, so im thinking about converting the 62 and then see what i would have to do to the '66. Here's a pic of the 62 ill try to get some more later if needed. It's a numbers matching all original 304.7 CU big block v-6 with a SM420 2wd.

Just want to say I hate all you guys out west...

Ironically im the 2nd owner of the 62 and aside from being somewhat of a basket case i got it dirt cheap and it only has one small patch of rust underneath the drivers door. The motor still runs, something that amazes me.

Sure hope you didn't pay much for it...

...the stuff folks here consider "has a little rust" vs what I saw out west with "has a little rust" always makes me laugh a little...and sometimes cry...

Yea I had that same thing happen to me too.......

61 2wd short step 350/th350, most body work done, I paid for $500 worth of new parts and got the rest of the truck for free. SCORE!
