I want to buy a plasma table.

When you do decide after you get one look into a Ironworker I was real close at one time buying one I think they rock.

I almost bought one myself. Regret NOT doing it now. Going to be a while before I'm at that point to get one again. Oh well, it's still on the big ticket item wish list :D

Brett already has an ironworker. Look at the last update in my build thread

I was in the same boat until a friend of mine pointed out the obvious... so with an iron worker you're mostly going to be punching holes, notching corners, shearing plate, etc.... all of that is kind of obsolete with a plasma table.
A plasma table and a decent size press brake (for what we fabricate on trucks probably a finger brake more specifically) would be ideal.

Not knocking the idea, just funny that I had the same idea until it was pointed out that with the plasma table you can do all that before it leaves the table and be done with it. :D

The iron worker is pretty cool. I took the shear off the other day and rigged up a tool for using my dimple does. Self leveling and it worked slick.

He also has the swag press brake that fits inside of it.

Also after talking to people I think itd be between a bulltear and plasmacam.

Personally I like the Bulltear. Little cheaper too. Big following on them as well.

Damn and I thought I was crazy for wanting a 2x2 just to buzz out brackets lol.

Lol. I looked at that too. But by that point its like, man not that much more and you could get a bit bigger, and not much more for that and even bigger...... :haha:

Me and brett will have a big discussion soon. Ive kinda changed my views on it. At first I wanted to go full on small business. Now I just want one to have and to do small side jobs to make more money for fun stuff.

If he wants to go full out business, ill prolly pull back. I don't wanna spend all my time doing it. Its my hobby, if it were a job Id lose interest.

Thats the way I am. I have too many hobbies to do one of them all day. And because of that I tend to switch back and forth between hobbies a lot during the seasons. If I Had to do one of the hobbies every day, I would probably get tired of it real quick.

Then again, you see people like Kert who made a life out of fabbing and shooting and you know some people can do it. I don't think I am one of them.

I've been in those shoes before. I attribute a lot of loosing interest in my 442 to working in the resto shop at the time.and doing that same work 9-5. It does just burn you out.

Yep, its my hobby, something I enjoy. But I would love for it to take less time, and id be down to building some bumpers, brackets, etc for people and making enough to pay the payments. Everything else is a bonus on a tool that would be around for a long time.

Plus imagine how easy xmas gifts will be... Everybody will get metal things or wall art. Boom just saved days of holiday shopping for years to come :haha:

Pffff a 1x2 ford, Chevy, or Mopar logo/emblem lazerd out with a price of nice wood behind it and backlight. Boom $500 easy.

I was mig welding aluminum the other day and a neighbor brought a friend over to watch. I now have a $500 gig teaching the friend to weld. Then he asks, do you know anyrhing about cnc plasma tables? He has an 8'x16' table that was left by a former business partner. Has not been ran in 8 years. He says everthing is there but has no clue how to use it. If I teach him, I will get a key for his shop.:woot:

Thats killer!

One thing I know that I havnt mentioned... Is that brett is going to get a table either way. I could in fact just let him get it and use his shop. But I dont like using people. It isnt me and makes me feel like dirt. So if I help and go half in on it, then at least I have access to it forever, and I feel less crappy about using the shop. Even though I know he enjoys help and having company.

Plus i spent 6 years working my ass off for him at my last job, so that helps too :haha:

I seriously doubt he has any issue with you being there. Seemed like one of the coolest guys to work with. Even asked me what I thought he should do with the limit straps and the tow bar. And used my ideas. You got lucky your dad has him as a friend.

Very lucky. Him and my dad have been best buds since grade school. Hard not to when in such a small town you only live 2 miles apart lol.

Leading to that, he has always been like an uncle to me. His daughters are like sisters to me. Ever since I can remember we have all been going to the dunes together. Hell the big joke as far as i can remember is that he is my real dad lol. As my dad is a short chubby blonde guy, and brett is a tall skinny brown haired guy like me :haha:

I hated working there, but not because of him, I just hated plumbing, digging, crawl spaces. But from 16 years old to 22, it was a damn good experiance, and he has taught me alot. Thats a big factor in going into a purchase like this.

I say do it. You don't know what the future holds, and maybe Deuling Fabworks could blow up

I was told years ago.....Pick the three things you enjoy doing the most....Take your most enjoyable two and make them your hobbies. Then take the third one as your job.....You will always be happy.
