it listed its stock specs as having a 4:1 transfer case, but didn't say what kind or model it was. what kind of case is in a h3? are they puny little pos...how much hp do you think they can safely handle? and any idea of what kinda bolt pattern it has on it? anyone every ran one?

it kinda seems like either its not 4:1 or it is and its just a pos cus if it was 4:1 and anything good im pretty sure we would all have them :D

This maybe a little off topic, but the H3 is a pig. I drove one once with an I5, and it honestly wouldnt go over 80. To stay at 80, it was constanly switch from 3rd to 4th gear.
popping a curb, while loading the engine (by using the power steering) would almost stall the motor.
terrible truck imo

yep they suck a$$ thats why only the tards in the crappy hummer forum on pirate drive them

You can get it wiht a 5.3 though.

And you can rent them. How much fun would that be?

Eh, i love the 5.3, i assume that would be fun. I was just excited to drive that bitch, and it just turned out to be the biggest pile... It wouldnt go over 80! Jesus.

Who would buy a H2 or H3 to go off road anyways.

Why does everyone always hate on hummers? Who would buy a H2 or H3 do go off road anyways.

If you need a big SUV wiht some off road capability, they are still your best bet. They just get made fun of cause everyone drives them to soccer practice and they look dumb.

But BFG 35's, 6.0L, 4l80e, 14bolt rear on a suped up tahoe 5 link, it would do pretty good off road. Just saying, for a stock full size, it is probably hte msot capable on teh market today.....

does it have a front? i thought i read in petersons it did,but maybe it doesnt?:dunno:

The 4:1 t-case is an option, so not all of them have it. I'm going to guess that most do not have it as the average H3 buyer would have no clue what it meant or ever use 4 low.

The 5.3 V-8 and selectable front locker are also new options for I think either '08 or '09 model years.

I'm not a Hummer fan either but have to admit that a stock H2 or H3 would eat a stock K5 alive in most conditions.

i have to admit, if i could buy a new truck right now, im a fan of the H3T with a 5.3! their pretty slick. with that said, i have also heard the rumors of the small duramx, it think 4.8l or something that GM was designing. i would love to have that. they would be almost unstoppable IMO

I don't think they're that bad, and with factory front/rear locker options... pretty cool if you ask me. Regarding the Dmax, we'll see where that goes, as far as I know Hummer is up in the air.

well new powewagons have selectable lockers front and rear and they have a solid axle so id call them more capable as well

I've been looking at purchasing an H3T for the last year or so. With the V8 it can tow, haul, and fits most of my camping needs better than the K5, plus it is a heck of a lot more comfortable then my K5 on road trips. I love my K5 but trying to put two little kids in the back seat is a nightmare. My wife says I can buy an H1 or H3T if I sell the K5, though, so we'll see.

i would be all over an H1 with a turbodiesel!!!

np241 x-fer, isn't thats whats in my buddies 91 k2500 burb? pretty sure it is, had a 4L80e in front of it, we took an 85 sm465 out from in front of an np208 and put the standard in place of the fried 4L80e, everything went right together..only thing was, he had to buy a flywheel for the 91 motor, he bundled all the old plug in's up wrapped them up w/tape out of the way...he had plans on getting a closed loop ecm, but it hasn't given him any trouble w/trans harness bundled up. pretty sure it was a np241 & he has another passenger side drop np241 sittin in his shed. could 1 find a h3 that has the 4:1 ratio np241 and put it guts in a pass drop 241? or just use the whole case in an early 90's pickup(they have drivers side np241, didn't they?) just for more gear or sas'd..

i didn't mean for this thread to be about the h3, just its x-fer case. altho i like the h3T myself, thought the I5 was all that was available in h3's, i was told they were built on the colorado platform....hmmmm,..h3T w/5.3L, i might would drive that...did colorados get a 5.3 option also?

The H1 is a bigger turd. Slow, crappy ac, hell of a nightmare to park, crappy as all hell gas mileage.

I would love to have the ALFA H1 with the duramax as it solves the power issue..but last I looked they are holding strong with prices over 100,000, compared to 25-60k for a 6.5 version.
