I'd love to attend but it's a haul for me unless we arrange an east coast BB18????
There was an east coast thing for awhile.
I didn't know, id
love to get to Moab but I gotta build a serious tow rig first
Is this my plastic Flask? If so that was round 2 of the night. But I've been altering my game a bit as well. I have a relative that is basically a functioning alcoholic and I've begun to notice how much it alienates him from family things. Like he's not trusted to care for the younger children in the family alone, I'm barely ok with him being in charge of my almost 11 year old son. His judgement is bad, you never know when he's still drunk from the night before, once home from an event it takes him about 5-10 min before the drink is in his hand, and he takes many meds that are not to be taken with Alcohol so it's a massive health issue for him.
I could go on and on but what its' done for me is make me a bit more aware of my alcohol intake. More specifically I have begun to cut all booze out several times per year, I have usually been doing this in the spring and in the fall, right after BB was typically my kick off to no booze for the fall. A month or two with no booze just to kind of reset myself and make sure that I'm not allowing my drinking pleasure to become more than just that. This summer I noticed myself going to the liqueur store a bit more frequently than I liked and did a mini dry spell that had only just ended a few weeks before BB, so my tolerance levels are way off.
I also promised myself many years ago, like when my son was very young, that my kids would never see me wasted drunk. That's not to say I may not get a bit of a buzz at a party when I have a DD but I don't want them to see the can't walk straight, slurred speech, pass out part over drinking. They have someone else that will take care of that for me unfortunately.
So with my wife and kids down I honestly did back off a bit. Thursday night they weren't there and things did get a little loud and out of hand though.
I'm still surprised we didn't get any complaints from the campers next to me...
Several years back I had a similar thought. I was worried that I might not be "just having fun" and might actually have a problem. I figured the only way to find out was to quit drinking. If I couldn't, then I would know I had an issue that might need help. The plan was to quit drinking for 1 year. Luckily I did it with little issue and felt comfortable enough to start drinking again, but it never did get back to the excesses of when I was younger.
Sometimes it's good to take a little stock of yourself and make sure you are who you think you are.
I blame baba really. It was the bottle of Jack he brought that caused me to get loud.
Gotta be Ben's fault
You did good, when we left it only was half way gone. That was even with a few of us taking drinks.
On the loud scale it was like a zero
Friday night I walked through Moab rim and was dead quite. The Jeep guys were the only ones out.
Then I went to bed and the sun went down. Don't know what happened after that.
That was Thursday night, we were hanging out by the RV until 2AM. I think most of us crashed early on Friday night because of that and because of the big run we had planned for Saturday.
The next time I feel like running an obstacle, I will get out of my truck an ask someone's permission to do so. You are not my babysitter and next time just leave me and all the other "noobs", this thread sounds like a bunch of elitists complaining about everyone else. I shouldn't have even opened it.
Oh man... let's all be coool
I don't think that is the purpose of this thread. Sorry you took it that way, by any chance did you read the entire thread? I'm far from a elitists... Heck I won't even put my truck through what it's capable of, mall crawler ftw.
Apparently I'm coming across wrong. I'm not saying anyone needs permision to do anything, but when we already have 2 trucks broken (no chance of field repair) and it's going to be after dark by the time we can get back to camp, I was taught to take all bypasses. Obviously you don't agree, that's your right.
As for leaving someone behind, won't ever happen.
Bribe away LOL
