I'm worried about my first k5 purchase

Just moved to Arizona, eh? :D enjoy that summertime heat.

I just left there last April, for good this time, overly tired of scorching temps. 26 years out there was enough for me.

Yeah, it'll be hot. My wife and I were tired of winter so we wanted to move somewhere warm. Mission accomplished! I have'nt been here for a full summer yet, so we'll see. I'm hoping AC/swimming pool/Colorado River will make it bearable. So far I love it. The weather is perfect 8 months out of the year and seeing the sun everyday is great.... but we'll see. I might be singing a different tune in a few months.

No, but supposedly it's all there.

It's too hot to bother with wheeling in the summer here. I'll be wheeling this in the winter time (8 months/yr), so I'm not going to bother with getting the AC in order.

Basically the top is just a heavy dust cover!

That's why if these windows prove to be too much hassle, the doors may just come off!

that is a good looking K5. nice platform to start with

the interior is decent. Seats are comfy. I'm digging into the power windows.

The other pic is of the weld on the frame at the steering box.

Considering the already repaired area I would pull the steering box and check it. Then get the weld in brace and the support rod brace from ord for it

definitely the first thing to do
second is steering correction
money elsewhere would be "stupid money" :thumb:

Being a noob, does the steering setup look wrong right off the bat for a lifted k5? Is the pitman arm correct? The steering arm (not sure what that's called) that connects to the hub is wrong? The drag link is short or long?

Since my steering wheel is not straight I think I'm supposed to:

First: Have someone move steering wheel back and forth while I look for loose steering box and other slop in linkages.

Assuming no slop (a giant leap)

Then count the rotations of the steering wheel from right to left.

Then what do I adjust?

Or am I way off?

I'm guessing that swapping the rag joint shaft is not a first step, I should clean up the other slop first, correct?
