Try the dealer, same switch used in many GM vehicles with rear power window.

Anyone happen to have the part number for this handy? Thinking it wouldn't be bad to have a spare or two for the future if GM is still selling these.

I tried to find one a few years ago and they might as well be made of gold and covered in diamonds hidden with the holy grail. Finding one used is about your only option. none of the dealers I tried could get it or any of the part stores. Even called lmc and they can't get it.

Would it be difficult to make an adapter plate and then use any of a million available switches? I've never had mine out to see what the opening looks like.

I have one as well if ya need it, I'm running a truck tailgate so no need for it anymore. Pay shipping & it's yours
I'm new to CK5 and still trying to figure out how to navigate. I would like to take advantage of your offer. How much should I send you and where? Thank you for helping me out! How do you message another member besides replying to a post?

I *think* the switch carries the full load of the circuit. Don't know what they are rated for, but I'd bet it's 15-30 amps if its wired as I think it is.

Either rewire to a relay setup so as to make use of cheap switches that don't need to carry much load, or likely pay a premium for a truly heavy duty switch that will hold up under decent load.

You could probably use a power window switch off an older GM vehicle, but it'll have to be adapted to fit in the stock location most likely..relays are a good idea, seeing you have about 20 feet of wire to the rear tailgate, that'll create quite a bit of voltage drop and might roast the switch in a hurry..

I have cobbed power window switches onto things like 12V actuators and small winches for power up/down on my garden tractor attachments I created, and they seem to hold up pretty well under a 20-30 amp load..but the wiring I use is only a few feet of 10 gauge wire ,and I do not have to hold the switch on for that long..

There's a thread on here someplace about a relay mod someone did with the relays mounted inside the gate. I thought it looked very slick, but it does require a new long cable run. I won't do it until I have trouble. But if momentary switches with enough current capability are hard to come by, I suppose the relays could be mounted right behind the switch someplace.

Does this fit the bill?

I would say so--in fact,it almost looks close to the factory switch!
--I nabbed a spare one for my Suburban on one of my boneyard tours, and it looks a lot like that one..might even pop right in the hole if your lucky!.

Someone who needs one, test it out and I'll buy one for backup if it's right. :cool1:

Since they are disco i found a thread some where that gave a part number for a switch that fit into the oem bezel. I ordered it from amazon. Clipped the oem connector and used female spades. Works perfect. I'll have to dig for that number though.
